Fantastic displays all week.

And yes she is a brilliant footballer, 40 Irish Caps.

She nearly beat Kildare Minors in 2002 in Blessington, a very small but very tough feisty centre hald forward. She gave CJ & Emma O'C plenty of trouble that day.

Brilliant result. Really emotional moment when they announced the result and again when the Irish crowd sang the National anthem.

The fight was very tactical and not as good as Mondays from a spectator point of view. Disappointed in her opponents ungracious comments both prior to and after the fight. However, Katie refused to to be drawn into any negative comments and praised the Russians efforts.

Well done Katie. A class act from start to finish.

Yep, well done to her, she's one in a million, we will never see the likes of her again.

The Russian was like a spoilt child with her arms folded all through the national anthem.

Heres hoping for at least one more from one of the lads, my guess is Michael Conlan could be in with a shout. Paddy Barnes is really up against it with the reigning world and olympic champion. Don't think Nevin will qualify for the final, hope I'm wrong though.

Absolutely delighted for her! After all the hard work and sacrifice down through the years she thoroughly deserved her gold.

Saw her interviewed on RTE last night and she doesn't seem to have any intention of retiring anyway and would consider turning pro if the right offer came her way. Kenny Egan reckoned "it would be all about the Benjamins"! Not exactly the type of thing you'd hear on the BBC!!! Laughing

Heard that Arsenal Ladies are sniffing around. She's an all rounder. She's given the lift to the country and her teammates. He's hoping JJ Nevin and M Conlon follow her to gold as it would be a fabulous ending to the games for Ireland..... Eire Abù!!!
