Most games are woeful at this time of year. Portlaoise are probably not the same outfit they were a few years ago but in their own back yard they are still going to be a tough test for Moorefield.

1 all-ireland , 7 Leinster clubs....they may not be the force they were a few years ago but a club like that obviously has a bit of mettle and desire and are well used to big time football at this time of the year.

There will be nothing in it.

Best of luck to Moorefield tomorrow. It will be close but if Moorefield get a couple of goals as they have been getting all year, I think they will do it.

Both teams wearing county colours tomorrow apparently. Hopefully the Kildare boys have good memories of the last time we played Laois in that ground and a similar result would be nice!

Surely this can't be right? Sponsors of both clubs pay good money, why should the clubs be advertising county sponsors in their biggest game of the year?

yes Both teams are wearing county there colours tomorrow..as i said on here before winning your county championship is worth a lot of money to the club, but this puts pressure on clubs to honor their sponsor. Surely they could of played in there home and away kits... does county boards have any input to this or is it a directive from the leinster council ..

Utter bullshit. There's no way in hell my club would wear or promote Brady Hams if we were in Leinster. That I can guarantee!

I rem a similar issue a few years ago and Moorefield refused to bow & wore their own. I hope for their own sake they do the sme tomorrow and carry on wearing their own colours.

Moorefield wore their own colours in the 2010 game as a protest against losing home advantage or so I heard anyway. Not sure have they any reason to do so again and could be putting themselves in trouble with HQ if they do so. Shouldn't make any difference to their motivation either way and hopefully they are good enough to win what could be a close game.

Not the point. Every club works damn hard to secure and keep sponsors. They're obliged to show loyalty to them. Why shud any club promote the county sponsor?

Can anybody explain why the clubs were allowed wear their own colours up to now? And why are they being asked to change now?

Must be infuriating for both clubs and supporters

Wouldn't surprise me if Portlaoise decided to nominate green as their "home" kit to make sure this would happen.

I don't think you can 'nominate' like that TC. Your home colours are registered with your club details. They don't change from game to game - nt that I know of anyway.

Plus I'd doubt Portlaoise would want to insult or offend their own club sponsor? Surely not?!

Regardless, Moorefield are a well run & organised club. They won't allow this to side track them. I'd be surprised if they opt to wear a Kildare strip.

Portlaoise the better team today. Moores coughing up such a soft goal just after half time was always going to hurt them, similar to sash last year against Ballymun their finishing really let them down, only 1 point from play in an hour of football was never going to be good enough.

Hard luck to Moorefield - it wasn't their day. Their forward play was poor today and they never looked like getting a goal. I was a bit surprised when Ross Glavin was taken off but maybe he was injured.
Portlaoise were the better team in the 2nd half and could have got a couple more goals.

Portlaoise marginally  the better team. They're game plan and discipline were utterly disgraceful. The carry on of Lilis during the game & at half time and the constant target of Daryl Flynn was disgusting. I won't even start on Coldrick.

For Moorefield, too many big players didn't fire. Wasn't surprised with Glavin coming off. I thought he was poor. Didn't score enough from play and just didn't hit the standard that they've set for themselves.

Portlaoise v Vincent's. I predict a riot!

Flynn was certainly targeted by the Portlaoise players and Mick Lillis. He did well not to react.
Still - the main reason Moorefield lost was their forward play wasn't good enough. They had enough possession to win.

Yeah I agree with that. Forward play just never or going. That said, it's hard to get going when your forwards are being dragged to the ground once they get within 30 yards of goal. And none the big players shone.
While the ref wasn't the winning or losing of the game, I really am sick to the back teeth of David Coldrick.

It was always going to be a massive ask for Moorefield to beat Portlaoise. Portlaoise know how to drag themselves through games at this time of year as they have shown even last week against the Slashers. Moorefield have shown the hunger and determination again this year they will be hard to beat in Kildare again next year.

David Coldrick - to me is the ''poster boy'' of all thats wrong about refereeing at the moment, little man symdrome, all about him and actually doesn't understand the game.

Spot on. Win at all costs, Whatever it takes. Hard to accept but it happens and Portlaoise deserved their win for their second half showing.
Very annoying and the blood rises when you see lads making great runs and beating players only to be pulled to the ground before they can get shots or lay off a goal scoring chance. Sure its no wonder we only scored one point from play.

My portlaoise townies took great pleasure in describing how we could only muster one point from play. Yeah brilliant lads well done..your inspirational "tackling" got the job done.

I think we lost it with some bad tactical decisions in the second half. We should have kept running at them and we kept releasing the ball too soon where the forwards were not getting free of their markers. Houlihan, Murnaghan and Dave Whyte were causing problems when they ran at them. Moving Roli away from the middle was a mistake I thought.

The goal was the changing of the game and a big momentum shifter and it was just a mistake which is hard to legislate for.

Very disappointing defeat but Leinster club is a fierce tough nut to crack.
