The demographics report makes for very interesting reading. That has to have had a very positive affect on our recent underage success.

I've a question regarding the stand and GAA redevelopments. I know space might be a slight issue, but if moving the pitch, could they not move it the other way and build a new, smaller stand where the terrace is. Maybe light in the old army houses behind the terrace is an issue but never knew why county boards always knock an old stand and replace it, rather than replacing a terrace with a new stand thus having two stands on either side of the pitch, one new, one old.

Surely the land at Conleth's is worth a lot of money now? Is there any point in redeveloping a stand when we are quite limited in what we can do to upgrade the ground in the future if needs be given that its based in a residential area. A new facility outside Newbridge, even at Hawkfield could be a much better option in the medium to long term. Market values are on the up and Conleth's would be prime real estate. Im sure its an option worth exploring.

The problem of a new site is you've to buy it and while value is up for Conleths so is the value of what you're buying to build on.

Don't even consider Hawkfield as a option. The parking and access isn't suitable and a tiny stand to go with it.

The big selling point for the original Old Connell idea was that the county board were getting the site free of charge. Obviously that's not on the table anymore.

There is also the little matter of planning permission, dealing with local objections etc - as one recalls, the rock upon which the last plan perished.

I like it being in the middle of the town. Brings a nicer atmosphere on match days than somewhere on the edge of town. And the capacity would be just nice imo.

The one thing I hate about these types of GAA stands is the amount of exposed concrete. Surely you could cover the end and other parts with a bit off white cladding with the County crest on it. Just leaving it grey is a bit depressing.

Also the seats, could they not be white or a mixture of white and green from the away jersey. Hell push the boat out and get the crest imposed across a section of seats. It just looks so typical GAA. It would be nice for it to stand out a bit considering the money it will cost.

I couldn't see from the picture, will there be wheelchair access to the stand?

Mightn't be on the images shortgrass but Part M of the planning regulations will insist that there is proper access for wheelchairs etc.

From Twitter: "Mams check from the Club Kildare draw bounced and has been returned after waiting a month for it. Says a lot about Kildare GAA's finances"

This would be hilarious if it wasn't so serious. It's hard enough to get people to buy these tickets without handing the winners dodgy cheques.

http://m.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/gaelic-football/dublin-stadium-back-on-agenda-35151827.html

Wonder is this a stepping stone to the GAA's 40,000 Leinster Stsdium.

To me it looks like that's what Dublin are trying to do dangling the 25k carrot with a small few Euro more to bring it up to 40K capacity.

Watching the infirm and elderly trying to make it up the steps today was a sad sight in 2016.

Whats your point.
In most counties they would have to walk up the steps too???

So what's your solution? And what's so sad about it in 2016 when the vast majority of GAA grounds do not have lifts?
