| What's going on with the u20 league? None of the kildare u20 panel are allowed to play...that doesn't seem right. Walkovers in all divisions as a result. Kildare county board are really doing everything they can to kill club football in kildare . | |

| Seriously undermining this competition if those on the county panel can't play in it. When is the u/20 championship starting, end of May? | |

This would be absolutely crazy, Kildare 20s have no competition until the end of May, playing away with the clubs will give them some chance of being sharp for that game. Challenge games won’t cut it at all.

| Why so many walkovers at under-20? Not even small clubs, see likes of Athy don't seem to be putting out a team? | |

| Clubs and county board need to stand up to these jumped up management teams that stop players playing with their club. It's bad enough at senior level but shouldn't be let happen at underage . | |

| Great win for Maynooth Univ football team tonight in Freshers Championship in front of a large attendance, beating UCD on a score line of 1-13 to 0-10. Very determined group managed by Shane(Shorty) Mc Cormack (Allenwood) who tore into UCD from start and once again proved the old adage that determination and organization leads to success.Brian McLoughlin (Clane) 1-6(0-4f) and Jack Cully (Carbury) (0-5 from play) were top scores with Niall O Donnell (Donegal) also on scoreboard. Kildare well represented with McCabe(Maynooth),Comerford(Towers),McGovern (Rathcoffey),McLoughlin (Clane),Cully (Carbury) starters and Mc Cormack (Clane) and Moran (Allenwood) among subs.Ex County minors such as Lyons (Wexford), Devine (Meath),Kelly (Laois) and lads from Monaghan, Louth and Donegal made up remainder. Hope David Burke (u20) manager was present! Next game home v DCU next Wednesday in Maynooth. Its a pleasure to watch open fast football compared to County Senior tactics of safety first. Reckon McCormack I going places as a coach and will be interested to see how he gets on with Sarsfield. | |

| Slightly off topic but I've just noticed Jack Robinson is in the NUIG panel for Sigerson final. Anybody knowif he's featured for them at all? | |

| Lads for me the timing of this competition was all wrong and reeked of a box ticking exercise. A lot of clubs didn't enter in the first place and those that did have obviously regretted it.
At this time of year all clubs are training hard gearing up for start of leagues etc and I don't think too many adult team managers have 15-20 surplus lads they can just let go and play in an u20 competition. I think a revamp of the junior leagues is needed to ensure the players aged 19-22/23 that aren't good enough for 1st team squads are catered for in a meaningful format. Maybe some clubs currently treat the junior leagues like this but most certainly don't IMO.

| Result Freshers q/f : Maynooth 1-8,DCU 2-13. Great effort by Maynooth who led for most of first half but conceded a killer goal just on stroke of half time to leave score 1-6/1-8. Maynooth scored first point of second half but DCU packed defense, closed down space, forced turnovers and scored on break as Maynooth tired and chased game. Team could not be faulted for effort but DCU have stronger squad and Brian McLoughlin absence through injury was noticeable after his display last week v UCD. The pace of game was frightening ,way faster than most senior club and the hits were hard and sometimes late. Maynooth club played McCabe and Sullivan played really well as corner backs and will surely have caught the eye of Kildare U20 manager. Great learning experience for all involved and those who committed to college football, club and county will have better players as a result. Its a pity it had to end as this was the most enjoyable football I have seen in ages. | |

| Slightly off topic but looking through the Minor League fixtures it looks like Suncroft are not fielding a minor team this year. Can anyone confirm? | |
