The one thing everybody in Croke Park agreed on was what Muppet decided on the team colours for our game, absolute joke to say the least.

A good effort in fairness. For years Kildare teams have had to work so much harder than others for scores.  Natural forwards that can take a point from play outside the normal range is what seperates top teams from mid teams. We saw examples of that today. If Mayo had one in the last 7 or 8 years they would have 2 and possibly 3 A.I.s by now. Still proud of the Lads. Would have hated to have got a beating like the rossies yesterday. One other comment...like a lot here have said already, unless it's almost full, Croker is a soulless place for atmosphere. Maybe i'm being biased because of the amount of losses there but i just hate that kip. The wife has come out of there happier more times than me...feckin Westlife concerts !!!

Not trying to make excuses because I think Monaghan were better on the day and much cuter and deserved to win but the referee and officials were atrocious to say the least. How can none of the linesman, umpires or referee see the off the ball stuff by Monaghan who  especially targeted Conway and to a lesser extent Moolick. Not sour grapes because the games was in Kildare' s hands regardless of referee performance. Kildare need to come up with mechanisms to deal with this when a referee has a agenda to take no action.

Under 31,000 in the place today and 4 counties playing. It's a joke and something that has to be looked at for the Super 8s.

In fact the combined attendance over the 2 days was probably around the overall capacity of the stadium. We could have had a quadruple header yesterday - games at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm Very Happy

There is probably a serious case for only playing Leinster final & AI semis & finals in Croker.

That would mean playing all of the Super 8s at regional venues. Of course, the Dubs would love that and as we all know the association is currently run for their benefit.

The break of momentum is a killer, and the weather does suit a spoilers game more, Christ no rain for months and it rains today, the atmosphere was shocking today, watching Monaghans puke football succeed in that souless monster is hard to accept. we need a miracle now and I don't subscribe to the notion that we will be better next year, you take your chance now, you might not get another opportunity.

KB you are absolutely right about taking the opportunity when it presents itself - sadly a lesson this group seems slow in learning.

Really? do people really think Monaghan were the better team? with 10 minutes to go Kildare had an easy chance to go a point ahead but coughed up the opportunity and they we down and kicked over a simple point, not better but smarter, more streetwise.

Rewatching the game, definitely, 100 percent at key moments in this game, our passing & shooting not as good as Monaghan.

Poor misses from Brophy and Feely in first half. Then at the other end, O'Connell KILLING us running from deep & picking off points. This is the difference a few seasons in Div 1 makes.

Jim McGuinness & Peter Canavan bang on in their analysis after the game. RTÉ getting their arses kicked in football analysis. What else is new...

Diff is Sky actually bother to analyse the game and give proper feedback on why one team is getting the better of the other. RTÉs analysis tends not to go much further than this game is good/rubbish.

RTÉ analysts have slated Galway all year for their defensive style, I don’t like it but it is working for them yet RTÉ despite covering 3 of Galways 4 championship games have yet to highlight why it is working so well for them.

McGuinness, Horan & Canavan take the revolutionary approach of actually analysing the game & telling why the result happened. Also have the old-fashioned virtue of respecting the teams & not being gratuitously insulting.

Spillane & Brolly meanwhile just ignore match and blather on about whatever their agenda is that week. It's actually a disgrace that one of our national games is covered in that way... And the attitude is that we'll just accept this tripe... Well I don't. If the choice is there will happily watch Sky every time.

It's fair to say feely is a bluffer . If he is injured he shouldn't be playing......He strolled around today and didn't influence the game at all . Poor Moolick must have a sore back from carrying him .

McGuinness - who, like Liam Hayes and many other pundits, is practically willing this Kildare team to go to the next level - said Monaghan deserved it due to greater composure & sharper forward play. Nothing revolutionary, mind - just made good precise passes and picked off the points when the chance presented itself.

On the subject of composure, Canavan further emphasised it by pointing out that three of Kildare's subs - Kelly, Healy & Slattery - were all turned over at crucial moments.

McGuinness also said, outside of D Flynn, who could you say among Kildare's forwards really had big moments during the game? It was really the two Flynns leading the charge without much back-up.

Seriously we are are better off in Div 2 and trying to integrate as many of U20's as possible. Half of our starting forwards were really poor today when it really mattered. We got no closer to Monaghan than we did in the league.
The team who got promoted along side us last year meanwhile continue to win tight matches. I know the conditions suited Monaghan more than us but once more we were found wanting when a big win was there for the taking.
Bitterly disappointing but thank God for the underage teams, they keep the dream alive.

Galway's rate of progress compared to us in the past 12 months is frightening.

They've also beaten Mayo, while retaining Div 1 status, drawing with Dublin & pushing them in league final. Have now beaten Kerry in championship for first time in over half a century. Their minors also completed Connacht four in a row over the weekend. If not this year, can definitely see a Galway All Ireland coming somewhere down the track.

Yes HG Neil dropped one short, Think it was Paul Cribbin spilled one on the 13m line. We hit the post and no one to contest the rebound... after a great save by Donnellan weren’t quick enough to cut out the rebound which resulted in a score. I’m not having a go but a cuter team wouldn’t be allowing this. We got turned over too easily in the tackle and the only way to combat that is the speed of the pass to cut that out. One positive of note is our accuracy of passing over the last few games. That has given us a good platform. If we could only be more clinical we’d have won today. I think we deserve to be in the Super 8’s and hopefully try iron out these errors that have being our Achilles Heel.

Certainly didn't have same hunger as Monaghan today - and that which we displayed in past couple of games. Small thing but our reaction or non reaction to balls coming back off post was telling. For our two that came back, no Kildare player willing to take a chance on a rebound. For there's, we were asleep and when harried by Monaghan player needlessly conceded a 50 that they converted. That said I felt we were getting on top midway through 2nd half but couldn't finish it off.

Actually good analysis on RTÉ tonight from Cooper, Whelan & Cavanagh in fairness. Should stick that trio on main broadcast & give other clowns the boot, they are total dinosaurs.

On other note, that AIB retro 8-bit video game ad is something else!

So many little things added up and cost us today. Early in game we also gifted Monaghan a point when Donnellan was penalised for taking a kickout when it didn't go required distance. Ball was thrown in , Monaghan won it and a point resulted. Take that out and we are trying to work ball up in last minute for an equalising point not trying to work miracles setting up a goal .

Monaghan beat d dubs in Croker in the League.. beat Tyrone in Omagh.. might beat Kerry in Clones next weekend.. there a seasoned, damm good and hard to beat side.. it was a close encounter.. small margins.. home next week.. so let's forget about the rain, the ref and the green jersey and get out and beat these maroon fckrs who we owe one to regardless of what happens after.. oh and CON please play Peter Kelly at CB.

Wet day, tough tackling opposition and Croke Park. 3 things we just can't handle sadly. Similar to the Armagh game last year it was a game that was there for the taking and at no stage did I honestly think we would do it.
Our half forward line went missing allowing no 7 to stroll through for 3 points. Still bugs that we have fallen so far behind Galway who we should have beaten in league final last year. Hard to see us beating them next week.
