| Very true Ohtoo & now that we’re out, they have another U20 Leinster on the way as well.
At senior level, unless & until Dublin are split, they are going to continue winning most of the trophies most of the time. That’s just the way it is.
But on the positive(ish) side, if we become a top Div 1 team, we can at least compete for the occasional title that doesn’t go their way.
There aren’t going to be many, but you’ve got to be in it to win it etc.

| We have been competitive within Leinster, that it. Also we have taken a few poundings off them when its been their turn while our victories tend to be nip and tuck. But its progress nonetheless. lets hope this years minors can narrow the gap even further. | |

| Had look on Reservoir Dubs forum for first time in literally years to gauge reaction, and... Yikes. You’d think they’d have bigger fish to fry than Kildare at present but seems like we rival Mayo as most unpopular county there.
General unhappiness over our lack of subservience; complaining about funding; having cheek to win underage trophies etc.
Maybe Leinster Council should just cancel next senior game & let supporters go at it.

| Fantastic to get the win on Saturday. Some really impressive performances, particularly from Browne and Bagnall in the forwards and Flynn in the middle before moving into full forward.
There’s definitely a resilience within this team, at times in the Wicklow, Louth and Laois games there was little spells when the opposition were on top or got a run on them but the heads never dropped and they kept plugging away. Even 6 or 7 down on Saturday they stuck to the game plan and slowly pulled their way back into it in the middle of the 2nd half before getting ahead.
You’d imagine it’ll either be either Tullamore or Portlaoise on the 27th as a double header with the Mayo – Dublin game. Hard to know what to expect from them, unlucky to lose to Mayo last weekend perhaps, bet them in the group stage before that but also lost to Roscommon in the group stage as well. Always hard to gauge provinces against each other at underage I suppose.
Overall it’s been a very positive year, in different games different players have stepped up and driven the team on – especially among the forwards. There looks to be a solid midfield there as well and some of the back 7 have put in very impressive individual displays at times too. Our form outside of Leinster over the last few years hasn’t been great so hopefully that’ll change against Galway.

| One of the great quotes from any Kildare player in the Nationalist today " we have the fitness on these, they are weak". I imagine Cian Burke saying that with a snarl "they are weak".
More of that please. | |

| Rex I was struck by that quote too, and actually, some of the insights into this team in the coverage were remarkable.
I loved the idea as well that Ward, at the very start, took them to the Curragh and put them through punishing training exercises. Psychologically, stuff like that is brilliant - lads need to know the mental and physical resolve you need to achieve at this level.
The end result is that one of the players says at the start of extra time in a Leinster final, "They are weak - we are going to dig in and break THEM."
Love it and the sort of attitude that has been all too sadly lacking in our seniors post-McGeeney.
Honestly, since Geezer left I have become disgusted with the pathetic feeble attitude of our senior set-up.
They badly need a hard-ass like Ward to go in there and say, "Where you are now, you cannot even imagine what the bottom will be like."
Exactly like Horan did in Mayo. Until someone instills that sort of iron resolve in them we are going nowhere.

| HauntedGraffiti I checked out that Reservoir Dubs forum too. Feck me them Dubs are a different bred. They have some neck slating Kildare fans about there behavior at the minor match. I remember been in the Hill in the early 00s and some of there fans were throwing cups of urine at opposition fans. Even a few years ago in Navan at an under 21 match against them (Think it was the game where Ben McCormack was excellent) I seen a Dub supporter spit at a Kildare fan | |

| Not the most self-aware bunch the Dublin supporters, I’ve lost count of the amount of unprovoked abuse I’ve heard from random cider swillers over the years.

| This actually happened
I was at the Leinster Final this year (obviously to see Kildare Juniors v Meath in first game)
Just before senior game started 3 dubs sat in seats directly behind us in Cusack Stand and conversation proceeded as follows
Dub 1 : Was there a game on before this Dub 2 : Yeah I think so Dub 3 : I think it was Kildare playing someone, seen some white jerseys about Dub 1 : Was it not Roscommon and Cavan, I think they were due to play today Dub 3 : Yes maybe your right Johnno the connaught final was due to be played today. Dub 2 : Was that not played somewhere else.
End of that conversation to be followed by
Dub 1 : Wheres Tommo today Dub 2 : He is over in section 304 Dub 3 : Where is he living these days Dub 1 : He is living in Navan Dub 3 : What county is that Dub 1 : Its Meath Dub 3 : Jesus we will be able to give him a right slagging so
Stand for National anthem.

| I remember struggling to get a ticket for the semi final against Kerry in 1998 and I had almost been to all Kildare games for the previous 25 odd years. Stopped in the traffic lights at newlands cross and a car pulls up with 2 lads in it that I worked with and they asked me if they could follow me to Croke Park, which I gladly agreed. When we got there they produced 2 tickets for the Hogan Stand and informed me that this was their first time at a Kildare game, I nearly cried, | |

| Some of those posters on Reservoir Dubs are out and out cunts. I noticed a common trend - any time we have beaten them at underage over the past few seasons they resort to giving out about our fans. Yes they often praise our team - last year's U20 and this year's Minor Leinster Finals - but the good nature and intelligence of their appraisal of the game is immediately diluted by vitriol being fired at Kildare supporters in the same posts. They need to look at themselves before throwing stones - decades upon decdes of booing and abuse coming from the hill. During the Pillar Caffrey - rakes of them turning up late to matches full of booze. Short memories from some of them ! [Side note as this thred will most likely be copied onto their discussion page; Fuck off spying on us Kildare folk] | |

| I see two u17 League Finals down for Saturday afternoon and Kildare minors playing. No surprise really with the county board we have. Some people will make both but its very poor planning. | |

| As I predicted, Dubs wiped the floor with Laois in U20 final. Meath out of their depth in Super 8s & will come straight back down to Div 2 next year.
Only THREE underage titles not won by us or Dublin this decade - two of those right at the start of the decade. We are literally the only pocket of resistance to Dubs left in entire province.
Best case scenario for GAA & Leinster council is that we win one or two senior Leinsters in the next decade. We’d be doing well to win those.
As I’ve said before, I honestly think it’s time for a boycott of Leinster senior championship until there is a drastic reallocation oh funds & resources.
Although there’s so much infighting in counties outside Dublin seems unlikely... Appears we’ll just have to knuckle down & drive on. It’s a really a Liverpool/Man City scenario, what can you do.

| I’ve said it on here b4 as well, but do not underestimate the weight of these underage titles we’re winning... For me, they carry more weight than one other provincial titles, as we are competing with literally the most well-resourced underage set-up in the history of the GAA. | |

| It certainly is creating the impression with these players not to fear anyone but it's a massive step up from minor to senior. And if the right environment is not in place at senior level all this potential will be wasted. | |

| Very true the step up from minor to senior is massive and its both physically and mentally along with application and if true commitment and dedication can be given..... to me its a job in itself something like a Head of Academy or something to guide these talented players through...… to me if we got 2 a year that would be good going..... as we know the opinion is Kildare have been operating at a very high level of underage for last 10 years so we should have at least 20 top class players under the age of 28 somewhere...…. | |
