Very disappointing night. Totally outplayed by Laois - fair play to them. We were scoring freely in the preseason competition and then only 1-7 and 0-4 when it counted. Hard to know why the wheels have fallen off.

Still think there are good players on this team that can go on to better things even though we weren’t at the races tonight.

'Someone else, straightfaced, was equally insistent that Shane O’Sullivan was better than Brian McLoughlin.
McLoughlin beat Laois on his own - in 15 MINUTES - in 2018. O’Sullivan did nothing & got himself a red card.'

Long time watcher, first time poster....I just can't let this childish bs go without commenting. Ffs man, get over yourself. You regularly lose your s**t when players you like are criticised & yet here you are lacing into a young player as if he was nothing. Where were you when he carried the team through the games in the earlier tournament & the first round of the championship ? Honestly, you need to have a good hard look at yourself.

I think Shane O Sullivan is a really good player.

Problem here is the manager.

Failed with the minors a few years back, and then with 2 years of U20s.

Whatever you say about the Seniors, when you cannot get the Kildare underage going then it time to just stop.

Conditions although not an overall excuse have to be considered but no denying Laois were better on the night.... don’t buy into some of the criticism towards management and players above....
I do believe it is not fair to ask players who have trained for months and some possibly for the last time in their county jerseys to play 2 games in such harsh conditions with results in both games could be totally different on a different day...

Fair play to Laois they pulled it out of the bag on the night, but holly Jaysus I’ve read posts here about dogging players about skill, have those guys witnessed the conditions these guys had to play in, skill!!!!! You can’t hop a ball on swamp like grounds never mind quick stepping someone , it’s wadders or hiking boots the players needed , I think Croke park got there fixtures wrong, these guys done well in the league when the weather was dry . Would you play basket ball on a swamp! Conditions where horrendous , yes Laois were better on the night and done what was needed to move forward, but you can’t compare skill v doggedness on a night like that, because it’s impossible in the conditions these guys had to play in.

Sorry but you can be skilful in those conditions. Laois kicked, handpassed and found space far better than we did. Did you not see the points they scored into the wind in the first half?
I'm sure Kildare players are better than they looked last night and hopefully some may make it at senior level.

Murof yea they did execute it better on night, my point is purely the conditions , kildare 20s did have a great league campaign , and some of the comments dogging of the players I believe is uncalled for . I’m purely bringing up the conditions and the croke park fixtures . It wasn’t there night and a lot went wrong but up to that I think they showed heart and great prospect in the league . In the conditions they had to deal with. Hopefully next year this will be looked at between schools collages there was a lot in the pot for the players to juggle.

Hard luck to the lads but sadly they’re not good enough. Totally outplayed last night by an ok Laois team. Like the senior team they just lack that bit of composure and mental toughness.

Totally all the blame is on management here just not good enough. We need to start and bring in younger coaches who are not afraid to have a go play to win the game. Not scoring for the first 25 min with a gail force wind unacceptable any decent manager that knows you attack with everything keep moving forward etc

had two year term ,he finished now

Two year term me bollix. He couldn’t rise a spark in them last year so why give him the keys again. There’s no contracts.

I was attacked on here for questioning his appointment. A glorified water-bottle carrier at minor level, then all of a sudden he's handed the big job. Apparently, he's a "nice guy" so deserved it. As I said at the time, if you hang around these development squads long enough, they'll give you a job.

Aside from the results, the other constant with comments after Kildare games at all grades for many years has been "brain-dead football". I'm beginning to think a classroom rather than a gym would have been a better addition to Hawkfield. You'd think the sun shone 355 days a year in Kildare the way we play conditions.

Taibi, how dare you come on and have digs at a lad under a fake name. He has done great work for his club and county. I bet you weren’t over in Hawkfield in the cold nights volunteering your time for the betterment of football in the county. Little weasels on here mouthing about a lad they know nothing about.

HauntedGraffiti, I don't know how you think we would give Dublin (or Meath) a better game than Leix. Half that Leix team was in last year's final too which we weren't. We wouldn't keep it kicked out to Dublin.

From what I seen last night, it looked like the Kildare U20s weren't in Hawkfield on the cold nights either.

"volunteering your time for the betterment of football in the county" Who you talking about here? Gay didn't do this. It has been an utter shitshow for two years under his guidance.

I'll spell it out for you. He might have volunteered but in no way was it "for the betterment of football in the county". Detriment is the word you're looking for.

Have to say there has been a delicious role reversal since I started following Kildare far too long ago... Then all I’d hear from Meath lads was Kildare teams overhyped, bunch of posers etc.

In all honestly, is there a county that overhypes itself more than Meath in the modern game. Their latest golden generation getting a punishment beating off the Dubs - I’m telling if you we caved so pathetically we’d never hear the end of it.

Anyway, Meath football going the way of Offaly, an irrelevance.

PS Don’t bother with adding “just like Kildare then” - think we’ve exhausted the Kildare gags at this stage.

Gay had a tough gig after taking the reins from burke. Still think there was alot of talent at his disposal especially last year .
I dont agree with slating a fella but i would think he was a little out of his depth .
It just shows u the achievement it was to win it and beat kerry , mayo and dublin. Would love to see a bit of thought go into the next man appointed with a view to the future .
Even bring in the likes of a bolton or that type who may have a future in the county set up.

Disappointing result. I know a couple of the players and they are by no means windy or lack leadership.. at club level anyway. I would hope they would improve with that bitter pill. The only worry I have is the senior team have had many bitter pills and they still produce passive performances

In an earlier post I put the blame on the management and I stand by that. I think we have a serious problem with team club managers in Kildare and its natural for players now to defend than to attack. My club had a game on Saturday in the Aldridge cup. The two teams were set up with defending at all cost but my own club were the worse offenders. To me and with the group of managers around at the moment they show a lack of ambitions directness to negative and have not got a clue how to play offensive football that is turning players supporters off going to games. I dont know what can be done to sort this out but the only good thing i see is Padraig Joyce in Galway and I really hope they do well this year a breath of fresh air the way football should be played.

Mentioned it before but the Naas CBS manager should be looked at. He's done wonders for a School who never had a previous history of winning. Blitzing all in front of them in Leinster for three years now.

Yes the CBS management have done very well but its like when Jack O Connor was in Kerry. When your working with such a talented group it makes it alot easier. I wonder will they stay on next year when i believe they will be average enough. Thats one reason i admire Burke. If he can improve wicklow and make them alot more competitive to me thats a sign of a serious manager that is not afraid to work outside his or her comfort zone.

There's been a bit of overlap between CBS management team and Gay Campbells u20 management team last 2 seasons
