I'd love to win the Tailteann rather than have a few non descript hammering in the All Ireland Series. Something to really build on.

Agree, we have no chance with the big teams. About 10 of them could do a serious job on us. Retain Div 2 status and win a few games in Tailteann Cup would rescue something from a really poor season. Big changes needed for next year.

It might be a case where a stint in the Tailteann Cup does us good. Not necessarily that we will win the thing but it might help regain some confidence and another route to a complete restart. If we end up in the All Ireland series on the current form then it could be a grim summer.

Looking at the way it'll pan out for 16 in All Ireland, and if we were to come sixth in Division 2, only realistic way we'd be in the Tailteann Cup is if Clare beat Cork in championship. That happens we are likely done. If that doesn't happen there's no way to find a 16th side that will either reach a provincial final or be above us in the league.
15 Â = Â Westmeath, Armagh, Donegal, Tyrone, Monaghan, Derry, Cork, Kerry, Mayo, Roscommon, Galway, Connacht Lower League Finalist, Dublin, Louth, Meath.
That leaves us or Clare/Limerick for last slot so it'll come down to watching that and depending on where you'd like is putting your eggs in that odd basket.
I heard yesterday that after the Louth game on the Tuesday night only 10 players turned up for training where they were running at Willie McCreary's stable gallops not sure how true this is but if it is thats mad.

The Nationalist Podcast had Mark Donnellan on this week. First time we've heard any of the players interviewed this season. Also, Limerick is going to be a balls for parking with Wexford v Limerick on beforehand.

The mood music has been awful throughout the league. I would hope there’s more life in Glenn than his post match comments suggest. But he looks a beaten man, bereft of ideas or ways to change what is going wrong. Hardly inspiring. As for the players, there’s a distinct lack of a willingness to work for each other. Too much strolling around, not tracking back and not tackling. That’s a lack of respect for each other within the team. Glenn in his playing days, as with his backroom lads, never hung a teammate out ti dry. They fought for each other and backed each other up. The current panel haven’t shown anything like that in a long time. That’s a worry. It points to something lacking from a team spirit point of view. They’re a bunch of individuals on a pitch, not a team. Can that be changed? Does the broken management have it in them to change it? Do the players want to change? The result on Sunday will tell us a lot of the answers to those questions. Personally, I don’t see them fronting up.

You'd wonder how we nearly managed to come away with a draw against the Dubs based on how things are going in Navan so far.
Despite the ref doing everything he can to help Meath the gaps they're leaving from midfield back coupled with their inability to shoot nearly has them looking as bad as ourselves.

Without sounding like I'm the know all lad. I did mention on here a few weeks ago. That Meath under O' Rourke seem to playing a system that wont work in today's modern game. Similar to ourselves those days are gone. In fairness O'Rourke is only in year one so maybe he will adapt. I do think that they will beat us in Newbridge not because they have any better players than us. I firmly believe we have better players than Meath. Just our confidence is on the floor thus handling errors and our headless chicken flaws will create Meath turnovers. Meath at least are trying to score a goal. But best of luck tomorrow lads.

Team named to start today:
1. Donnellan
2. O’Grady 3. Ryan 4. Houlihan
5. Hyland 6. K.Flynn 7. Sargent
8. Masterson 9. O’Callaghan
10. Coffey 11. McCormack 12. Beirne
13. Robinson 14. Kirwan 15. Woodgate
Now, whether that team starts is another question altogether! Best of luck to the lads today, a must win game. Safe travels to all making the journey down.

Looks like there’s no sweeper in that team. The entire half forward line is attacking. Ourselves and Meath are stuck in the 90s. Best of luck and hopefully they can salvage a result.

Changes had to be made but you'd hope they're not changes for the sake of change.
Interesting to see where kickouts default to without Feely in the middle. Good to see Barry Coffey start after being on the fringes for so long. Would expect Alex Beirne to drop into midfield and Robinson and Woodgate to alternate with each other on who stays inside with Kirwan. Assuming there's no changes which there usually is I suppose.
Fair play to anyone travelling down today.

Probably because he was piss poor when he came on against Derry, and worse still against Louth.

Just looking back at my pre league predictions below.
We're actually doing far worse than I had predicted . I think Limerick could beat us today..if they do we're as good as relegated really.
I think even if we beat Limerick today we could still be relegated.
Dublin - Loss - a hammering to be exact. Cork - Loss. Narrow loss in Newbridge. Clare - Loss - bogie team who have our number in Ennis Derry - Loss - we'll do well to score more than 7/8 Louth - Win - poor side. Limerick - Win. Will be tight. Meath - Loss - will have a bit about them under O Rourke
That's my predictions on our league. Relegated in 4 points . It will be a dogfight to stay up. Not for promotion
