Interesting draw. Don't agree with you though gaaweb. Only 4 teams have qualified so far and all teams from Straffan to Raheens (in 13th spot) can still make the top 8, although Raheens would be a real long shot. I'll bet there will be a lot of supporters tuned to Kfm to hear how other games are going, trying to work out what they'll need to make it. The only game that doesn't have a bearing on qualification is Milltown v JTB

| I've avoided the Moorefield bashing in the past but how is it that the rest of the senior games are in neutral intermediate venues (generally in between the two clubs) but moorefield get to play in Newbridge?? Out of interest, can anyone remember the last time Moorefield were taken out of Newbridge? I'd say it doesn't happen too often | |

With the possibility of score difference coming into play they have to play all matches at the same time. Otherwise a team playing later than the rest would have the advantage of knowing exactly what they need

Ah now El Guerrouj there is no need for the Moorefield bashing. I'm sick of coming on here seeing people belittle Moorefield. In fairness though, St Conleths is neutral. Plus Moorefield and Carbury will attract a big crowd i'd imagine. How do you think you'll do against Athy? Must win for both. |

How do you think you'll do against Athy? Must win for both. St Conleths is about as neutral for Moorefield as Croker is for the Dubs!! I can see that it would prob attract the biggest crowd so that's why it is there but that doesn't make it any fairer on Carbury. Moorefield play every champ game in Conleths and will be much more at home there than other other team (excl. maybe Sarsfields) and I'm sure Carbury would have wanted to get them out of there. My take on the meaning of a 'neutral' venue would be a ground somewhere in the middle of the two clubs participating where one has no notable advantage. If you look at the rest of the senior games, that holds up, but not for the moorefield game. Not that bothered cos obviously I amn't affected but just would be interested to hear the reasoning behind it (apart from big crowd) Should be a close game against Athy alright, definitely could have been an easier draw. They bet us in the league but I'd be confident of turning the tables. Speaking of Carbury, they have had rotten luck with the open draw system. They have drawn Celbridge, Larries and Moorefield in the group stages. If they qualify for the quarters with that kind of draw, all credit to them!!

Speaking from a Carbury point of view , I agree with everything you say.It has been the draw from heil in 2010.We have not had good draws in the past number of years and this year we have also lost one of our best young players to injury. It would also be nice to have taken Moorefield out of Newbridge but that's the way it is.We thaught that the game might be in Ballyteague.Moorefield played before us on sunday last and looked awesome.Hopefully we will put up a decent performance and see how the other games go.
One thing I noticed about the venues this weekend was the lack of games in North Kildare venues. So much for spreading and promoting the games around the county.

| Tom I reckon if ye can stay within 2/3 points ye will still go through. I know that won't be the player's goal and they will be going out to win but I reckon 4 points and +2/3 score difference will be enough.
Who did ye lose to injury out of interest? Noticed Carbury's form dipping towards the end of the league. Obv missing the two O'Flaherty's didn't help but do you think maybe they peaked a little too early this year?
Celbridge v Allenwood game will be interesting. Celbridge will have to come out all guns blazing to try rack up a cricket score but Allenwood will want to keep it tight, as a tight game, win or lose will prob put them through!
Anyone care to guess the 8 senior teams going through?
Sash, Larries, Moorefield, Leixlip, Allenwood, Naas, Carbury, Maynooth

| Lack of games in North Kildare?
Junior: Allenwood and Celbridge
Intermediate: Naas, Clane, St Kevins, Caragh.
Senior: Raheens, Sallins, Straffan, Ballyteague.
It looks pretty evenly spread to me TC to be honest. You have to take into account that you can't make 2 south Kildare teams travel north to play against each other. Nor can you have a north Kildare team playing in north Kildare against a South Kildare team.
I dont buy into this notion of St Conleths Park being a home venue for Moorefield. Almost all Senior championship games are played in St Conleths now. The fact that moorefield are sucessful and reach finals and play there more than most clubs isn't Moorefields fault. I imagine if you asked the Carbury players if they prefer to play in Conleths park or Sallins, they'd say Conleths all day every day.
