PP odds say no All Stars for Kildare

Mick Foley (2/1) & Hugh McGrillen (3/1) are 5th & 6th fav at Full back
Emmet Bolton (7/2) is 7th fav at Half back
John Doyle (4/7) is 3rd fav at Midfield
Eamon Callaghan (10/1) is joint 7th fav at Half Forward

I imagine most here would be picking up Foley at 2/1 but generally there is no 'value' in these bets as the over round is so large. At full back, half back, half forward & full forward there are 3 positions so total odds should be 300% + margin (midfield should be 200% + margin). The actual margins are

full back - 380%
half back - 392%
midfield - 280%
half forward - 383%
full forward - 404%

I know these are novelty bets, and PP are first to market, but man that's some cushion they're giving themselves

You seem surprised that the bookies are giving themselves a cushion clonmullin??!! I think Mick Foley is definitely worth a bet at 2/1 though

Bolton 7th Favourite. I though he would be 4th just behind lacey, nolan,cassidy. Who else is ahead of him?

Thought that as a result of the amalgamation of both awards, it's going to be half selected by journalists and half the players???

The journalists pick the teams and the players vote for the player of the year and young player of the year awards as far as I know.

There used to be a representative from all the papers - that has been changed. There is now a selection committee with some journalists on it. The players pick the players of the year
