Lads just a few comments on coaching seminar in clane over friday night and saturday. Fair play to kildare coaching staff and co-ordinater alan dunny for organising the top class mentors to talk and display there coaching ideas to all club coaches from through out kildare.
Friday night, Peter Francis, Improving your performance through correct diet and nutrition,
very good discussion and advice from peter on alot of basic things that club and county players can do to help themselves improve their performance.
Caroline Currid, mental preperation( performance coach),
She was very interesting, had some great insight into what makes the top GAA players tick and how they prepare for games and how routines are vital in there performance. Also how she interacts with players on a one to one and team sessions. She invites all teams and players to take charge and responsibility of their action and come up with ideas and plans for training or games, she would be ideal for clubs who were looking for that vital edge in team preperation.
Jason Ryan, (wexford) maintaining peak performance,
He remained me of our own manager, greezer, young and very fresh in his ideas towards training and methods of training. Some very good ideas for basic training for club and county players that does not cost the earth to organise. Its easy to see why wexford have progressed under him.
Paudi Butler, (national hurling co-ordinator)
Paudi was some man to talk, excellent stories about gaa legends from the past and present, made some good points about how to keep training fresh and making sure all your players on your panel feel part of the setup. He said that your subs are as important if not more important than your starting 15. This man would be a great to come and talk to a club team and maybe take them for a training session.
Saturday, Dessie Dolan, westmeath(developing skills through kicking/stricking)
Dessie was very good, explained his drills and ideas to development squad players who were demonstrating his drills on the day. He had some great drills for coaches to learn and most were easy to organise and put into action within your own club, he also would be good to do a session within a club.
Pat o Shea, Kerry,
He is no nonsense sort of a trainer/coach, expects players to be tunned in and if there not, he's not behind there door in letting them know, also had some great drills, all about creating space, making decisions on the ball and running off the ball for the benefit of your team mate. Its easy to see why kerry won all ireland under his management and also why he is so highly regarded in coaching in munster.
John Doyle kildare captain and legend.
Pleasure to listen to johnny in the afternoon, good insight into his training dedication and preperation to training. He also had u17 development squad demonstrating his drills and they were excellent and easy to understand, starting with some basic drills and working up to more intense and harder drills. he will make good coach to young lads in the future.
I cant comment on hurling mentors on the day lads as they were on another pitch but from what i was told they were top notch, only down side was that former tipp manager Liam Sheedy could'nt make it on the day. Over all a great day for all butting GAA coaches and congrats to all who had a part to play in arranging this conference.

Concur OTB very good seminar , your description was exactly the way it panned out , great day for all coaches ,interested parties , its a pity it only takes place bi annually , Liam Sheedy didnt make the day , due to a family emergency , but will give his lecture on another day arranged by the kildare development officers in the near future.

It was all filmed both on friday night and saturday , may come out on DVD , to be available through Hawkfield ???
