I had to re read that a couple of times to make sure I was not missing something. You want do you, YOU want to beat a big team. But before a quarter or semi as that is just not good enough. I don't know where do you go from there.

You would think by some posters expectations that we were winning All Ireland's every three years for the last 50 years, not two leinsters in that time and no All Ireland in 84 years.

But sure as long as we beat a big team before a quarter final then all will be ok.

well you have said it all yourself Rex no all irelands in 84 years its no wonder offaly didn't fear them and its a forcum and opinions

Botch and Gomearza,

There hasn't been a meeting of minds like this since Father Dougal and Father Damo played ball together.

Like I said Townend why do you need Kildare supporters to blow smoke up your arse. You won, we moan, that's the way it works get over it.

Anyway nice of you to slag Kildare off on a Kildare forum.
Straight out of the book of how to gain friends and influence people. Maybe you could lets us know how your senior footballers are getting on at the moment. A quick look at Division three tells me you are lets be kind and say struggling. We'll have to wait till June I suppose to find out.

A disappointing result. There has to questions asked about the selection and management.

If you bothered or were old enough to go to games before McGeeney you would of course know that Crofton and Nolan were tactical geniuses and won all their big games, found loads of untapped talent in the County and gave us loads of memorable days.

But I don't need to tell you that do I.

I was there through the Micko era if you must know. He had his flaws but he did alright against the big guns didn't he?

Yes he did alright against the big guns / eventually.

You obviously forget his first 4 years in management when we as a county received many a hiding from Dublin & Meath, as well as few humiliations at the hands of so called lesser teams (Louth '91).

Were you calling Micko a failure after his first 4 fruitless years with Kildare. You say McGeeney has "done nothing but put this county in debt" yet defend a man who achieved much less in the same period as Kildare manager.

I was very disappointed with Kildare the other night, I will not pick out individual players as they train so hard to get to this level. I have been accused in the past of hyping up players and maybe some posters are correct we should not hype up players. Our forwards are big and cumbersome there was no direct play at all we were content to hand pass the ball either sideways or backways. I am sure a Barry is a nice guy but his communication level with the players leaves a lot to be disered , if I were him I would just step down . Offaly deserved there win as they were more mobile up front and had the better game plan. We DEFINATELY need a good forwards coach on the management team. We need to go back to basics and get these lads playing football and not in the gym all the time, if you look at Barcelona they are all small and slight but can play football, I know it is a different game but I still think we need nippy forwards who can run at teams and create chances, time and time again the other night we were getting bottled up by Offaly back line . We need to be more direct up front what does a back hate a forward with pace running directly at goal. We need to have a serious look at management at all levels in the underage set up and if necessary get specialist coaches from outside.

Dont know why people are getting on my back. Its going away from the thread and I was just defending myself. The fact remains when we come up against a top tier team we get beat. Over the last couple of years we got beaten by the top tier teams in the regular championship. We get a run going in the qualifiers and then get beat by the top tier team again.
I fancied this Kildare u-21 team to do well and again I was let down for the 3rd time in 3 years. They have under-achieved imo. I feel these players were good enough to get to a leinster final. So the coaching or the setup was wrong.

Townend

I totally agree with Rex and I am not impressed by some of your comments. The general feeling here was that the best team won on Wednesday night and we wish you the best of luck in Leinster. Also , enough said about your senior team and you seem to be very fond of coming to Kildare for your managers lol!

While I was very disappointed the other night , I still regularly thank God that I was born on the Kildare side of the bridge going into Edenderry. Let there be absolutely no doubt about that Very Happy .

corner forwards are always scapegoats darroch ya will get used to it. midfield getting destroyed most managers take the corner forward off Evil or Very Mad .

it took micko 2 spells and 6 years to beat the "big guns" so were you saying the same about micko after his first 4 years? another point on that is the dublin team in 98 were as poor a dublin team ive seen

Mulhall may have been frustrated but twitter is not the place to air his grievances. No matter how much he is pissed at the decision to take him off he should have more respect for the Jersey and keep it in house.

Both. And the fact that McGeeney didn't give a shit about the U21s.
