There is a lot of talk of the AFL coming in to Ireland in order to recruit players. And who could blame a young player at the moment leaving Ireland - with little or no employment prospects in the near future, what is to there keep them here?

There might be no guarantees with the AFL in terms of making the cut but it's certainly a punt worth taking. But that is at the higher end of the scale.

Locally clubs in Kildare are being effected by players, some key men in their particular clubs moving abroad or relocating in Ireland in search of work.

How has your club or a club near you been effected, have they lost many players.

I know Rathangan and Ballyteague have been heavily effected recently with players leaving in search of work.

WE have lost 8 players from the 1st team 3 years ago. It really brought us down another level. We struggled big time but have since recovered. A lot of our young players play soccer and rugby with rugby really taking over at the 15 to 18 age group. You can see it at u-16 and minor level how big clubs can bearly field a team. Currently the recession has hit us in numbes at training and lads who have to work on match days. Before they coukld get off but now work is number 1.
