Hi folks,

It's an historic day for Milltown GAA this Saturday 23 November, as President of the GAA, Liam O'Neill, will visit the club to launch their club history, entitled "Red Sashes and Proud Hearts: 125 Years of Milltown GAA".

We are the oldest club in the county with an unbroken affiliation going back to January 1888 and we are quite rightly proud of the fact.

The book has been three and a half years in the making and contains over 320 pages of facts, yarns, pictures and much, much more.

The celebrations will continue that evening at a Dinner Dance in the Westgrove Hotel, Clane where our special guest will be GAA legend Micheal O Muircheartaigh.

Hoping to see you all at our Book Launch this Saturday at 3pm.

Thanks, overthebar.

We will be selling them at the club on Saturday, although pre-paid orders are quite strong, but there should be a few. We are also working out a deal with the bookshops in Newbridge as well, although nothing is confirmed on that front yet.

Thanks for the good wishes from the neighbours!

We have a chapter on the brief Milltown/Moorefield combination that won a minor Championship in 1989 and then disappeared.

We even have a picture of the great Christy Moore included in our book. Naturally, with strong Milltown connections, we claim him as one of our own too!

Yea i remember that year 1989 wasn't it, Milltown had 2 players on the team i think the 2 Mulpeters who never really played for Miltown after that. I think they went to Sarsfields in search of greater things. Moorefield made up the rest of the team under the name of Pollardstown. Dont think the Moores claim this Championship not like other clubs who claim Championships they didn't win under there name......Rolling Eyes

Well done on your Book i hope it goes well as your club deserves it.

We would be delighted to welcome both sides of the town out to Pairc Criostoir o Dubhlainn this Saturday. The Larks, the Blues, the 'Town......all are welcome!

Heard the book is a fantastic read. Really looking to getting my hands on it.

Just to clear up - is book launch at the clubhouse?

Well done to all concerned and congrats on the club reaching 125 years of unbroken affiliation to the GAA. If the articles in the Kildare Nationalist is anything to go by the book promises to be a great read. Best on luck with it all.

Thanks Ballyboy. Our two clubs have had a few ding-dongs down through the years, and again last Sunday morning in Hawkfield in the u15 final. We just about hung on at the end. Your No. 11 has potential.
