The last time we considered building that other stadium out by Pfizer the worst economic crash in history occurred. Now we decide to build again the worst virus since the Spanish flu pops up. I think some one is trying to tell us something.

We can plan a major build on the Curragh for 2030 only to get to the site and find it's been reclaimed by the sea!

Hard to reconcile that we had a surplus of 240K while half the county is crying out about Dublin's financial resources are in part the reasons for their success!
Dublin are doping themselves.... we're looking at a needle full of dope with our dick in our hand wondering what it is!

Just on a side note, how are Louth able to build a brand new 14,000 capacity stadium for €12 million and we can only get one stand, changing rooms and possibly floodlights for nearly €11 million. Are the new toilets gold to make up for the years horror.

from RTE
The new Louth venue will feature a 4,080-seat stand containing two kiosks, four dressing rooms and a physio room.
The standing terrace on the opposite side of the ground will house 8,470 fans and include a spectators’ team room, two kiosks, three press boxes and a storeroom.
Two standing areas will be placed behind the goals, each with a capacity of 725 people, while the stadium will also feature a 145m by 90m main pitch and a 90m by 65m warm-up pitch.
from Kildare GAA website 2 years ago
The development will consist of the construction of a new 2–storey Covered Main Stand building (3,000 seats), with facilities within the Stand, comprising Players and Officials Changing Areas, Spectator Concourses, Toilets Areas, Office, Multi-purpose room, VIP/ meeting areas, Food services/ bar, Stores, Plant Rooms and associated ancillary areas. As part of this project, there will be a new civic plaza at the main entrance area to the stand and the Flood Lighting for the facility.

There’s as much a chance of Conleth’s getting that upgrade as there is of them building a 20,000 all seater. I’ll believe it when I see it. And I’m not expecting to see it.

After almost 5 years we have managed to 'knock out' the dividing walls in the dressing rooms so far.

One of the most common replies when you ask someone who’s new to kildare why they don’t bring their kids to Kildare matches is the cut of Conleth’s. Sponsor’s hoarding falling off the walls around the pitch. These walls haven’t seen a lick of paint in a decade, the ridiculous fencing... these are all cheap things that should’ve been done and doesn’t need a croke Park grant.

Sure when they installed new barriers onto Town end and Barracks side, they left out the Kilcullen end? Talk about cheap hoors. It looks absolutely ridiculous. As much as it pains me to say, but Conleths park is an insight into the mind of Kildare GAA - absolutely all over the place!!

I agree with the above, one of the things that drives me mad, even for county finals days is how no one can even paint the goal posts, I'd love to know when they were painted last, what would the cost be €30.00

The government money will not handed over until they have the GAA's money. Leinster Council say they won't be giving any money for 12 but more likely 24 months. God knows when the money from Central Council will be given.
I always said I'd believe it built when I was sitting in the new stand. I have more chance of sitting on the moon.

I know times are hard and money is hard to come by but St Conleth's Park is at least 30 years out of date.
We had plenty of 'good times' during that period and nothing was done whereas most clubs in the county have massively upgraded their grounds over the last 20 years.
The way things are going it will end up like Casement Park, like in all honesty if any other sport/business was looking for an operating licence using St.Conleth's Park they would be sent away with a list as long as your arm and told to demolish/repair/upgrade etc and then come back.

The more I think about it the more I think that the unbelievably poor leadership shown in relation to the county grounds is a huge red flag as to how Kildare GAA has been, and potentially is still being, run from the top. I also believe that this incompetance trickles down to the playing fields too.... and the results of our senior team (the flagship team in the county) over the years prove my argument.
Too many old fashioned, thick, ignorant, clanish, close minded people who do not have the competance or the vision required.
Its a desperate situation altogether. The question is, do we have the people in the county who are willing and able to rise above this and take control??? And if we do, where are they??? If we don't, we'll be pissing in Coffey's for a long time yet!!!

There’s nothing stopping them starting like Louth on the basis that the full costs of development won’t be drawn down for at least a year or two. It’s whether or not the CB have the backbone to do it. Go to the banks and get a short term loan to the value of what croke Park has previously promised. It’ll allowed the CB to get on with the work and put pressure on Croke Park to stump up when the time comes. Otherwise nothing will happen for years to come.

In fairness, well done to all involved with the Kildare Minor and U20 Hurlers who raised the guts of 25k with their Mizen - Malin - Conleths run on Saturday. Some very good people involved there
