Like it or not, football has greatly moved on from what you're pining for. Practically every sport has move on from the kick it and see approach. Hunger and passion won't cut it anymore. Skill won't even win out the day unless you're properly prepared.
Video analysis is essential in preparing any serious team, GPS monitoring enables critical decisions be made on the sideline during the heat of battle.
The spoofers, as you call them, are uncovering the data that shows when a substitution should be made, or a lad needs to be rested to avoid injury. It's not used to ensure a full back is running x amount of kms or anything like that.
Any decent manager understands that different players have different roles. I can see that a combination of statistics might show that X is playing badly (IE missed tackles, turnovers etc) but I'm struggling to see what statistics indicate someone needs to rested to avoid injury. Considering how every single human body on the planet is unique, I don't see how measuring runs, game time etc can be converted into a universal formula for all players. Anyway, regarding the first one, any half decent manager doesn't need some fool with a clipboard telling him who's playing badly. If he can't see that for himself, he needs to piss off and find some other part time, cash only job. Next thing will be this expected goals nonsense that has reared its ugly head in association football. We'd need that like we need a hole in the head. Gaelic football is an art, not a science. All these spoofers are getting too well paid to peddle their nonsense and they just end up driving the likes of Dan Flynn away from the game. Edit: I say this despite having been the fool with the clipboard for many years. I've no problem with analysis of the opposition and reasonable performance review. Analysis and stats have their place, I just think it has been completely over egged in recent years.

| Exactly Seamus - a lifestyle choice to be an elite sportsperson in any sport, the commitment is huge and I wouldn't knock anyone at all who wouldn't fancy it. | |

| I can never understand why panels aren't announced when the cuts are made, like why keep it secret 2 weeks out from the league | |

| Heard a number of U20'S opted out, too much commitment. My understanding is that there was 20+ days training required in January and a 3 day wend training camp in West Cork in late December. You need to be starting or sure of getting game time from bench in league to give up your life for Kildare football. I would expect Dempsey or Barrett, Masterson and Hyland from U20's to make squad for starting league game, one or two more may be training cones in squad but unlikely to feature. | |

| Apparently the quartet in Maccie's post in, Brian McLoughlin & John O'Toole out. Or so the rumour mill goes.
I sincerely hope O'Neill did everything in his power to keep McLoughlin. He had a part to play this year. O'Neill really has me scratching my head sometimes.

| All that is happening is that guys are being ran into the ground and getting injured. Spending less time at home. C'ant play or train with the club.
That is why they are just doing the club scene.

I am pretty sure that O´Neill is doing everything to keep all the lads in but certain decisions are out of his hands.... Jesus Christ, it is after all in his own interest.... I sincerely don't think he is that thick! If the lads heart is not in it or if they are just not good enough then he cannot make the situation better.... Think you need to give him a bit more credit here... You are scratching your head no doubt because you don't know what is happening behind the scenes, no more than any of us do.....
