Westmeath will cause us trouble. And IF we got over that, most likely Louth. They showed us up in the league. Still, doesn’t overly matter if we do what we should be doing in the league. The league is far more important than Leinster, which is a glorified O’Byrne cup.
The big difference this year is that Meath have already qualified but are in Division 2 anyway and one team will qualify from Div 3/4 from Munster.
So basically like last year, don't get relegated from Division 2 and we are through.
I personally think we will make the Leinster final anyway.

Westmeath were very good in the championship last year, a Heslin free away from going through and knocking out Tyrone, very close up in the Athletic Grounds and neck and neck with Galway before a sending-off. The one thing is they put a serious emphasis on pace and if the ground isn't rock hard then they might be slowed down, hence they couldn't get out of division 3. They also lack a bit of depth.
If Ger Brennan does for Louth what he did for Moorefield, the winners might be playing Wexford or Carlow in a semi-final!

I see the independent are reporting that we’re going back to being the curtain raiser for the Dubs in our home league games… Beggers belief that these decisions can be made. Why the hell would we do that? Portlaoise or Tullamore are far better hunting grounds for us. We’ll need every advantage we can get. And to not be an add on, to bump up dwindling numbers to justify the Dubs playing in Croker….
I hope to god that this is coming from management & players wanting to play there and not something from the GAA and county board. I don't think it's a bad thing to get a bit more experience of playing there.
Crazy awful idea. I won't set foot in the place. Whoever is asking for this if true, whether it's management or County Board can clowns. Unbelievable to continue to disadvantage ourselves while taking any enjoyment out of it for supporters and making going to a game as hard as possible.
I don't agree that it disadvantages ourselves. The ultimate goal is to win an All Ireland, while this is a million miles away at the moment to do it we need to play in Croke Park. Giving the players more time there has its advantages.
We've played there more than anyone other than Dublin. Playing in Carlow or Tullamore is an advantage to us. You lose that. Its also a God awful atmosphere which wouldn't be the case in a smaller venue. Kildare supporters won't travel to croke Park in big enough numbers to make use of a home tie. Can't get my head around this idea.
Hope it's not true but going on the CB's willingness to provide the warm up act to Dublin in the past, it probably is. They even agreed to go to Nowlan Park ffs! We don't need any more experience in Croke Park, we have too many bad days there. I certainly won't be going there.
Any team with any ambitious of winning anything needs to create a winning habit in Croke Park, regardless of whether it's a league title or Leinster or even getting as far as All Ireland semifinal. If the players agree then I am 100% for it. It's a gamble though, it's a tough division and if we miss out on promotion then the daggers will be out. Btw it's typical of GAA to hand us 4 home games when we have no home, how predictable was that. Let's hope that they give us 4 home games again next year in new St. Conleths.
Has anyone seen the provisional fixtures Division 2 National football league 2024? The Division 1 fixtures are floating about but no sign of Division 2 yet.

I think this makes us a laughing stock after Glenn Ryan's strong stance on this issue last summer. Shocking decision but then again with our county board nothing shocks me anymore. The question is were senior management part of this decision?

That's false. They will be played I'm carlow
I really hope this is true about Carlow. All the points above are ones I agree with about playing in Croke Park but from my own selfish point of view, our league games should be played in a town somewhere. Ballybofey, Armagh, Ennis, Ardee, Navan, Carrick, Omagh etc over the past few years have been great craic for our away games. Even if some of the results have been grim. Our home games should be Carlow or Tullamore (I think we pissed off Laois Gaa enough to rule that place out). Then you go into championship and the first couple of games are usually in Tullamore, Carlow or Portlaoise. You suck it up when you are in Croke Park for the semi final and final in Leinster. The thought of travelling FOUR TIMES to the grimness of inner-city North Dublin is something I can't even think about. Sitting down in a big soulless stand. Ugh. Give me a cold terrace anywhere else in the country than there. As I said, that's just my personal point of view and I can already see that some think Croke Park is a good idea so we'll have to see.

Should have went to Parnell Park. Would definitely be available, not too far and the right size for our games!

Kildare’s home league attendances last year were well under 5,000. 5,000 in Croke park…. Jesus Christ…

The drip feed of the proposed league 2024 continues. 1st home game against Cavan in Croke Park on Saturday evening, January 27 as stated above.
Kildare could play at least three of their Division 2 games in Croke Park with round three and round six games against Armagh and Donegal also likely for Croke Park. The Armagh game, on Saturday, February 17 would be a double header with Dublin/Roscommon. Meath will be away possibility round 4.
