Athy - What do they need to do to win Senior

what do they need to do to win senior?
who is going to be the next senior manager, are the current lads staying on?
won 3 minors and now u21 title. is the u21 title the next step towards winning senior
or are they too far behind the top teams like st laurences moorefield sarsfield.
against moorefield they looked weak physically, how do they change that?

They need to keep their heads, talk of senior county championships is too early - most of the lads playing yesterday, particularly those they rely heavily on are 18/19 years of age. Of course when they come up against the physicality of teams such as Moorefield they look weak - but give these lads 3 or 4 years at their own pace & they'll have caught up - the worst thing Athy can do now is to force it, building up a good team takes time & Athy have time on their side. I'd expect them to keep the uderage & U21 sucess up, may be in the next 2/3 year contest a senior final but the aim should be getting to the last four in the short term.

I presume they need to hold on to their minor footballers of the past 3 years, which I think they have a good chance of doing as a lot of them are sons of past footballers.
However I heard on KFM yesterday that all of yesterday's winning side are under age again next year (if so some performance) but also you then have to ask the question where are the minors that won the championship 3 years ago i.e. actually 21 year olds or were they also all eligible again the following year.

Athy only got to the semi final of the minor championship in 07 and won the minor league that year with the majority of the team 16 and 17.the first minor championship sucess was in 08... all players used the other day were u20 which would have been apart of that first minor championship winning team.. tony gibbons and liam mcgovern both started all 3 minor finals and u21 success with gibbons still underage for minor next year..a serious feat..

They have alot to do,they looked miles off the pace against moorefield.they need there current u21 footballers to strenghten up and gain more experience and keep producing young good players.
