| ChopperDalton Kildare 0 - 15 Wicklow 0-9 , I hope your right , i still think the loss of dermot earley is the straw that breaks the camels back here for this kildare team , i would assume the back door route is the best road for kildare , as a delaney cup is the last thing kildare want or would be capable of winning due to this loss for such a fine outstanding player Laois 1 -18 Dublin 3-8 You maybe right ,they have improved , i suspect they shall win div 2 , so the delaney cup is the most i think this team can achieve , i suppose we have more pressing aspirations for the year hopefully with one of the major national title in the bag ,the next step naturally is the one we all want | |

I find that hard to believe. He will surely have to be eased back very slowly, will hardly be rushed back into a game against same team & venue where his nightmare began nearly two years ago. Half back line for me is: Bolton Chalky Flats

| Carburyman if you tell me what the starting line up is I'll tell you who I'd drop.
Anyway it's unlikely he'll actually start so whoever is having problems might be the one to be dropped.

| Mikey playing against Wicklow? Not unless Kildare are 12 points up with 10 minutes to go and that's if he's in the 24 which would be doubtful enough. Mikey getting back to '09 form would be a massive, massive bonus. Getting fit will be just part 1 of the deal. It is great that he is heading towards getting fit at last though. He's had a rotten time of it. | |

flourman , maybe you have hit the nail on the head , after longfords display today , lets judge Monday after laois play sunday to answer the above question , they also did a dublin on it , were 8 points up , and were drawn in and beat by a 14 man donegal

| How many times did we hear that Kildare were a one man team in the shape of J.D, well the poor auld Dubs are may hear that phrase a few times this year. Brogan went off quickly which was followed by the all to familiar Dublin collapse. No outlet ball into the forwards and no free taker. If he has a dodgy hamstring that could go at any time this year the dubs are toast. 8 points up with twenty to go and they screw it up again. Great team when everything is going their way, absolutely clueless when it's not.

Kildare have more free taking options than Dublin. J.D, Jimmers, Flats, Ennis. As for your second point, total league points prove they have not.

| No point in reading too much into today's matches. In a way, I think Dublin's defeat in particular could be a blessing in disguise for them. That result will have brought them back down to earth and a few players were shown up as not good enough. They'll be able to prepare now without a lot of the hype. They're not too far away and are probably in better shape than most counties at the moment. Had Connolly or Cullen stayed on the field (never mind Brogan), they'd have won today. Some of the forwards they brought on in the second half today were woeful.
Laois played some good football in the second half but their full-back line will be their achilles heel, just like it was in Newbridge. They had no one to limit Murphy's influence. Their midfield and forwards though will ensure they're dangerous in the summer and if they get McMahon back they'll give Dublin a run for their money.

That's more sensible... again Fone, I'm surprised at you saying Kildare have gone backwards since last year. Why are people using March and April as a barometer FFS!!! Did we learn nothing from last year, when we would have said the same thing in June and yet suddenly had the best championship in 10 years? You'll probably think you'll be proved right if as likely, Kildare don't make a semi-final this year but it opened up really nicely last year and we'll look back on that as an opportunity to win an All-Ireland gone abegging. With Dowling, Moolick, Fogarty incorporated, this continues to be an improving, evolving team. Unlike everyone else, I'm not one bit worried about the forwards - midfield is the major problem although Flynner is a leader now and will be fit by the championship. See, I think Kildare might improve and not reach a semi-final. And no, that's not a mad statement. Cork, Kerry, Dublin and Laois are all better than last year for a start. Dublin will have been gutted to lose especially from that position. I'd agree that Connolly or Cullen were massive losses. And if you are a one-man team, for that man to be Bernard Brogan will win you lots of games, if not a championship. But they are continuing to improve and will be very tough nuts to crack. The other thing is that Cork are a much more relaxed team now than last year and Ciarán Sheehan is some player at 20. Cork never went for goal once - maybe once, Pearse O'Neill shot too high - but they kicked their points and kicked their points. Of course Mossy Quinn did miss some easy frees and there was a lad blazed wide from in front of the posts. But there's nothing like the knowledge of winning, to stay winning. Laois are a different unit too under McNulty and that is no surprise seeing as he's cut from the same cloth as Geezer, from same club, transferred to same club in Dublin, best friends, deadly serious about winning. Laois have a bit more steel about tehm now. They'll be hard beaten and will be a better team in a couple of years with more experience. If they had someone like Rob Kelly at centre or full-forward, they'd be a real threat.
