| Yea you wouldnt be alone with that opinion Fionn/Tim (Fim?) I used to be a big supporter of the colleges competitions, now I think it is being ruined by too many egomaniacs within these colleges.
There has been far too many public spats between IC and college managers and its not suprising given the ridiculous training regimes they are forcing lads in into. County lads esp are being tied into these college "scholarships" and are then expected to train/line out with colleges at the drop of a hat.
Talented lads at this age should be carefully managed as much as possible yet the complete opposite is happening (case in point Michael Meehan)

I'd agree as regards the training schedules which can be ridiculous for lads at u21 level where they could find themselves playing for upwards of five or six different teams in a year between club/college/county. Without the GAA scholarships though, I suspect many of the better younger players around the country would have long since departed for Australia or Canada given the current bleak employment prospects facing young people.

| i wasnt talking about the gaa scholarships, its the actual few bob/promise of a flat etc that these lads in colleges such as DCU/Jordanstown are getting and in turn they are expected to put in the same amount of effort as they do with their county teams - this is the source of all of these public arguments between IC managers and Sigerson managers. Great that they are getting looked after but the hidden costs in such arrangements can prove far more detrimental imo.

Is this why he withdrew from the college ?

Completely agree. Some of these lads seem to want to fantasise that they're coaching a college football team in America.

| Moolick, Brophy, Connolly, Hurley and O'Brien all started for Maynooth. Hurley went off before half time. Peter Kelly didn't play for UCD. | |

| There's a video of the Maynooth goals and an interview with Tommy afterwards. I'm not allowed post it as I'm a new member. Do a search for Jerome Quinn media, videos and Sigerson

| Hurley got a fairly heavy shot last night and Shaun Fahey came on for him. Tommy Moolick was excellent, as was Shane Connolly. Conor Brophy didn't have a great game. Serious crowd at it. Good win for Maynooth, they were the better team alright. Should be a great game against UCC. http://www.daraghoconchuir.ie/blog.php?id=1758 | |

| My work colleague who knows his football tells me that Connolly in goals was a class apart last night. With Shorty starring for UUJ , we are not short on goalkeepers. | |

| Connolly had a stormer. Safe as houses under the high ball. Thought Brophy was quite impressive myself. Really came into the game in the third quarter when Maynooth had their purple patch. Would like to see him get a run for the seniors alongside Flynn. We need JD closer to the posts. | |
