| Folks I assume trials are ongoing for this Team, and lets hope we can make an impact in this Competition. This Age group are the same Players as was the so called dream Team under Brian Murphy at Minor, and was in all fairness very unlucky to lose to Longford in the Semi Final that Year. Fellas like Cribben, Hurley, Moolick were the stars then, who are the Players likely to star on this Team? | |

| The lads listed above, I would add Podge Fogarty and Fionn Dowling to that list. No real backs stand out which could be a problem and if they are good enough to get by Meath/Louth I think it is they face Dubs in the semi final so a very tough route. | |

| The obvious player missing from that list above is Kevin Feeley. Lets hope he is available but its unlikely. Anyone got a starting teamsheet from any of those games in 2010? | |

| I didn't include Feeley as I believe he won't be available, two more who could make an impact are David Hyland and Niall kelly, both very good for the minors last year and also for Athy in the senior championship. | |

| Adding Dan Flynn, Hyland and a fit O Hagan to the defense and Paddy Brophy to the attack on the above team and you have a serious outfit, of course a lot of these guys are on scholarship so mightn't even be available | |

| plenty of talent in attack alright - although last years team did also.
i would add Dara McGlynn from Leixlip to players to prob make an impact this year in defence, Mcgeeney has already been impressed reportedly

| Missing from that Team sheet v Longford were Hurley and Cribben.. Has the makings of a serious Team. Why would they not be available if on scholarships lillyboy? | |

| Because they were told to forget about college football if they wanted to make the squad. If ur on a scholarship you simply have to play for your college or you loose the scholarship. | |

| There's the spine of a useful team there with Hyland, Moolick, Hurley, Cribbin, Dowling and Fogarty.
Tough match away from home start with. It seems like years since we've had a home draw at this age level. Does the lack of floodlights in Newbridge count against us or is it just coincidence and luck of the draw?

Seriously bad form if true. Admittedly the scheduling of games and the timeline for the Sigerson and under 21 championships isn't the best, one pretty much leads into the other, meaning any college players could have limited time and opportunity to train with the county panel in January. But to tell lads they have to pick between under 21 football and a scholarship is a bit much, there's probably lads out there who might only be able to attend due to the benefits of being on a scholarship - fees waived, accommodation on campus, maintenance grants etc. I can't imagine there'd be a lot of lads on the under 21 panel who'd be pushing for a place on the senior team just yet, so would it not make sense to try and let them get as much game time as possible, regardless of whether it's with a college team or the county side?

| Don't believe that about not playing for colleges for one second. It was McGeeney himself who urged the county board to set up some kind of link between itself and NUIM, like they do in Cork with CIT and UCC. Now he doesn't want anything to do with College players, in a word nonsense.
That was right out of the Morgan O Callaghan is a selector now, funny that as he says it's the first he heard about it when asked by the Nationalist this week.

| What a joke of an appointment that is. On par with Alan Barry and Charlie McCreevy. I wont be expecting much - if anything from the U/21's this year. | |

| It's not true as I had said in the previous post, he said in the Nationalist this week it was the first he heard of it. It's a typical case of don't believe everything you read or hear. | |

| Its an awful situation for a chap to be in. Your County or your College ( scholarship), totally wrong. Surely to be there could be some middle ground?? Is Sarsfield Midfielder still underage? | |
