| I heard there are trials going on at the moment for next Years Minor Team. Lets hope no stone is left unturned and all the good work at underage can be rewarded with at least a Leinster Title. What are their chances and what sort of a Team are we likely to have? I know its a bit early, but its nice to know whats going on. | |

| At least a Leinster Title? That's a bit harsh considering the much thought of minor teams of the last few years didn't get any silver wear. I wouldn't expect too much from next years team. A lot of good players are overage for next year, not so sure that the players coming through are of a similar vintage. | |

| They should be a serious outfit next year. The u/16 team from 2010 went the whole year unbeaten, including the "unofficial" All-Ireland tournament in Cork.
The trials over the past few weeks have been for players not previously involved with the development squads, so I'd say it's fair to say the selectors will have seen the cream of what's out there before they finalise their squad.

| This year's U16 team has beaten the U17s and the Kildare Vocational Schools team recently, so I've a feeling there'll be plenty of guys playing next year that will be underage again the year after. From what I hear, they are a serious crop of players. The pity is that no-one that has come through the ranks with them is involved with the minors next year. I would definitely think that a couple of them should be involved the year after. If guys have brought teams through a three or four year cycle, they should be there at minor level to finish it off because they know the players. | |

| Sure didnt this years u 16s win the Leinster also, and I believe are a seriously talented squad. There are at least 5 or 6 from last Years team still underage I believe? So gomearza thinks were being " HARSH " looking at the possibility of winning a Leinster. | |

| I think what he means though Seamus, is that given the so-called Dream Team didn't win one, and given Kildare, as a rule, win sweet fuck all, to be expecting a Leinster title is a bit much. We should definitely be very hopeful of winning one in the next two years though, no doubt about that. But so are Dublin and Meath I'd imagine | |

| Oh your right there Ogie, and maybe half the battle is the lack of belief that we can win one. Look at Tipp and what they achieved. As a tradition we are a strong Footballing County, but at Minor level not so, with the last Leinster Minor title won in 1991, and NO All Ireland Titles. Its time the tide changed. and I agree with you Ogie, There should be consistincy with the teams and at least one selector should stay involved at minor level. The great Kildare Team of 1998 was founded on the basis of that Minor team in 1991 and also the U 21 Team of 1992. | |

| If so thats good to see, a positive move. Who else is involved with him and B Murphy? Someone mentioned the VEC Team. Whats the story with them? Is it all schools in the county? When do they play, whats the team like? are there many possible county minors involved. | |

| seems to be the way forward with young lads is to leave the mentors with them from u14 all the way up. most successfull countys employ this statagey. ciaran whealen spoke about it on sunday game last year. think he said he had north dublin u13 squad and he stays with them to minor. dessie farrell with the dublin minor team of last year since they were u13 too. | |

| Hoban from what i've heard is the man who deals with the logistics of it. The mentor with the clipboard so to speak. Would i be right in saying he has been with murphy since the start. I no christy byrne and cian o neill did there bit too...ive seen noel mooney and decky o toole doing the waterboy duties on occasions with them.
Was very surprised they didnt go for a new name to give a different approach but all the same wish them the best. Lets cool the talk of leinster down and just get them to win the opening game

Sorry, harsh was the wrong choice of word. I was just thinking it's not the right thing to be expecting the minors to bring home a Leinster.. especially when the teams of the last couple of years couldn't win one. I'd love for them to have the ambition within the group to believe they can win one, and go further even, but maybe a little less expectation from fans wouldn't be the worst thing.

| Gay isn't with the U16s this year; he has been involved in the development squad set-up though... I thought it was with the U17s of two years ago, i.e. last year's minors, which is why he was in with the minors. Gay is a very good guy, very astute. And Hoban is the logistics man, the administrator of the management. | |

| Thanks square ball. I heard it somewhere else also. Jesus am I the only one who has a serious problem with the promotion of underage football ( u15, u16, u17, vec ) fixtures etc. in this County, or do they not give a f..k. | |

| 2 -11 to 2 - 10. to Dublin after E/ T. Very good game, ref was poor. Kildare lads had chances to win it in normal time, and probably should have. Dublin probably had more forwards, as Kildare were very reliant on one or two I thought. Some very good players on both teams. Kildare no. 6 and 7 did well. 2 midfielders were good troughout. up front no. 12 and 15 played well. The no. 12 must have scored 1 - 8. Left footed free taker. I heard they play Wexford now away. Its good they get another chance after giving their all. A good crowd there also on a very cold night, and it not even advertised. | |
