Kildare Development Squads Empty
PostSubject: Kildare Development Squads    Kildare Development Squads Icon_minitimeSun Mar 04, 2012 10:37 pm

Folks was hoping we could get the Fixtures / Results and comments(Encouragement) from the various Kildare underage Development squads which are due to start shortly.Usually these fixtures are not very well advertised with just Mammys and Daddys getting texts etc which is a pity as some of the talent that is coming up in these squads has to be seen to be believed,i managed to see the u14s team last year in the Leinster final competition in Ballykelly and they dominated every game.Mabye if lads know of upcoming fixtures etc they could post them up asap before the game and sure if the games in Hawkfield or your area it will at least give people a chance to get down and support the future of Kildare. The squads are currently engaged in an introduction to strength and conditioning training focusing on injury prevention ,skills development with nutrition, leadership qualities etc all to follow serious efforts being put in by the youngsters and the mentors.

The only info i know so far is the various Leinster and National Competitions are set to commence on the 9th of April with games to take place throughout the summer so if anyone gets any info,Teams, times, locations, results match reports etc could they post them up asap and give people a chance to mabye get down and support the youngsters and remember if your commenting Encouragement,Encouragement,Encouragement.

well said Kildare Castle, more info should be made available to the public maybe thru a monthly update in the leader or kildare post or a page set up here for the dev squads

There's a counter-argument too though. Maybe exposing underage players to potential criticism from the on-line experts isn't a good thing....

Ok point taken did stress "encouragement " but i see the downside. mabye just strictly Fixtures and results then ?? ,has to be some way the games can be advertised here .Mabye a toal ban on mentioning any individual names or something like that , if not i suppose then just scrap the topic stick the fixtures in with the seniors.

Its a good idea , but all concerned would need to be very mindful of the guildlines , I mentioned above , and the points you have brought up , yes a match report on the team as a whole , fixtures & results , naming players in some instances is ok , as long as it in good context , to be honest its a mine field as underage reporting is concerned

Players names cannot be mentioned for obvious reasons, but you could still give an overall view of the work been done within the county by clubs and development squads. For example what's wrong with mentioning that all development squads are at present doing strength and conditioning training for the last 3 weeks at this will continue for the next 3 week's with a periodical review through out the summer. What's wrong with mentioning that the Kildare minor squad were down in Cork for the weekend winning both their games and that the u17 squad played Longford in the Leinster minor league lossing 2-06 to 1-12.

Don't think that could do any harm. do any of you ?

Of course not, I would love to see reports of progress etc.

However, I would just hate to see a promising young footballer getting slagged by a keyboard legend, that's all.

Exactly the type of thing i mean ballyboy,i understand where the lads are coming from as regards underage reporting and im kinda thinking now ye its probably a minefield best left alone as rgb said it would be a killer to see youngster get slagged off but its a pity mabye if it was kept to something like strictly Fixtures and results and the odd well done lads etc.living near newbridge myself and would definitely head into hawkfield if we got wind these type of games were on usually you only hear a result a week later only to find it was on up the road or in a nearby club while you sat at home bored out of your skull with nothing to do but watch eastenders as the missus wont let you change the channel Rolling Eyes .

The U14s play their first blitz of the year in Darver Co. Louth on Monday next. KIldare will have 2 squads of about 25 players and will play 3 games against Louth, Meath and Dublin.

Brilliant stuff today from the Kildare under 15s with two very strong performances in the Leinster blitz held in Hawkfield. The lads first defeated Dublin (south) 2-12 to 1-03 and then Wexford with a score line of Kildare 7-13 to 1-05.In the first game a huge first half performance saw the Kildare lads hold Dublin scoreless while converting 1-09 themselves, credit to the Dublin youngsters they came out the second half and battled hard scoring 1-02 in 6mins ,Kildare responded with another goal and 3 points to kill of any attempts at a comeback with Dublin converting a last kick of the game free to leave it 2-12 to 1-03.The Wexford game saw a goal for Kildare after 1minute with the lads increasing this tally to 2-04 with 12minutes gone ,as did Dublin the Wexford lads fought tooth and naill with some great football being played, 3 points for Wexford at the end of the half saw the score now 2-04 to 0-03.The restart for Kildare was the same as the first half with another great goal after 1minute.Kildare then pushed on and kicked 7points without reply.Once again the Wexford lads battled back scoring 1-02 in a 5minute spell,Kildares response was emphatic though when they hit 4-04 to finish out the game very strong. Two great performances from the young lillies and what impressed me the most was not just the team performance as a whole but Kildare seemed to win nearly all individual battles with some very strong footballers on this squad so well done to them also well done to the great work being done by the coach,s and mentors, fair play lads.

The u/14's also had a successful day, 2 teams from Kildare, Meath, Louth and Dublin taking part. Both Kildare teams defeated Meath and Louth and had a win and a defeat against Dublin. Well done to all taking part
