County Final 2013 Moorefield V Sarsfields

Say Jason will bring in a few lads for trials at least or a few practice matches he is going to be his own man so i believe the book is open again to all, maybe we might see the Whitestars v Kildare Panel resurrected!!

Just on minor referee saw him ref a few times this year not great i'd say he never really played the game and is also very narrow minded -not a great ref

I thought the ref did a good job, ok there were a couple of debatable calls he may have got wrong and it did'nt look like a penalty. However when you compare him to the semi final refereeing you have to say he contributed to a very open game of football where he had little to do with the outcome. No fuss. From the first feign of injury he told whoever it was to get up and made the freetaker move on with the game it set the tone and fair play.

Well done to Moorefield and Sarsfields on what was the best senior county final I've been at in a while. Tyrell looks a real quality wing forward.

I disagree. Only 1 Dublin team can play in Leinster (obviously) and they can be beaten on any given day. Okay, Moorefield could do with a "marquee" forward but their forward play has improved a lot this year and they are getting goals in all their matches. They are a big strong team and playing football in the winter won't be a problem. I think they have a decent chance.

Moorefield are on the other side of the draw from the Dublin winners. Moorefield play away to the Wexford champions in the Leinster QF (scheduled for 10th Nov). If they win that they play whoever comes through from Longford/Wicklow/Laois.

I agree with the posters on Colgans performance.. in fairness He always tries to let the Game flow where possible.. Some other Refs like to whistle a lot and tend to become the centre of attention... I thought Cawleys handling of the Minor Final was a bit like that tbh.

I think when one looks at the following facts that this current Moorefield squad have possibily been the best senior club team in Kildare in the last 50 years:

1 Leinster Club Championship  -   2006
4 Kildare Club Championships  -   2006, 2007, 2010 & 2013.
4 S.F.L. Division 1 titles         -   2008, 2010, 2011 & 2013.
3 Aldridge Cups                    -   2010, 2011 & 2013.

Add in Championship and League finalist in 2009, winning the league with a 100% record in 2011 and being the only team to successfully defend the S.F.C. in the last 21 years in 2006/2007.

Also a good number of the current squad were on the 2000 & 2002 teams that made the initial breakthrough for Moorefield and set the platform for the future success.

ah I dunno about that, the Raheens team of the 70-80s were the best Ive ever seen

The Carbury team with Ollie Crinnigan and Pat Mangan who won 6 county championships in 10 years in the 60s/70s would deserve a mention as well.

It's hard to compare teams of different times and say who was the best. There's no doubt that Moorefield are the most successful senior club in Kildare in the current era.

Always hard to compare teams from different generations. Different eras with different types of competition......or lack of in some cases!

At least the clubs named above have genuinely won the titles they are accredited with.

I dont see Moorefield claiming the minor title they won in the 80's. Hilarious how Sarsfields try to lay claim to titles won in the early 1900's by Roseberry.

I think the moores are equipped to go on and win Leinster , we played Vincent's in a challenge game and they are no great shakes, moorefield are an extremely difficult team to beat and I hope they go on and claim a Leinster, I believe the average age of the team is 27 they have a lot of experience I think they have a great chance

Looking at the highlights on TG4 last night the difference in class between the meath/laois co final and the kerry co final was frightening! The physique of some of the lads in the Meath final was more akin to Junior footballers.... that Na Fianna team looked like a gang of Hells Angels!!

I wouldnt be in any hurry to back Portlaoise at that price, still dont think Moorefield are strong enough to beat whoever comes through Dublin.

Great to be able to watch the Wexford S.F.C. final yesterday live on Wexford T.V. although when St.Martins won the commentator declared that they will play the Meath champions in the Leinster Club before the Wexford P.R.O interupted to inform him that it was the Kildare champions ' Sarsfields' that they play next.   

I contacted Kildare T.V. to see if they had coverage of our county final and was informed by them that they were refused permission to film inside St.Conleths ???????

Moores back out to 8s with PP, fantastic each way value as I reckon they are certs to make the final. Portlaoise are nothing special this year and they are the only side worth their salt on that side of the draw.

I would agree with you topcat was talking to a laois man who was at the county final and he said that portlaoise were lucky to win, Moorefield will definitely get to the final. Lets all get behind the moores and wish them all the best in the final.

After most of us taught that Johnstownbridge would get to the final I wouldnt hold my breath on this happening Moorefield should just take it one game at a time and dont look any further than that..

I completely agree what I meant to say was that they were on the right side of the draw, and potentially could reach a final, I still believe it will take a very good team to beat the moores they have been very impressive this year .

One other thing that Moorefield have going for them compared to both Athy and Sarsfields who won Kildare the last two years is their experience, 90% of the Moorefield team will have played in the competition before and many will have done so on numerous occasions, this is a massive advantage at this level. Athy to the best of my knowledge had no previous experience while Sash only had 3 of their starting team with that experience.

I agree Topcat experience is crucial in Leinster and the moores have plenty of it, I fancy them to progress, especially when they are averaging two goals a game, I would love to see a kildare club winning Leinster. God forgive me but I will be a moores supporter until they are knocked out.

We have an experianced bunch of lads who are hungry for more success in Leinster.
For a county winning team that still have Flynn & Whyte to come in and also Kev O Neill chomping at the bit to play, it looks promising.. but we will keep our heads firmly on our shoulders and expect every game to be a battle to the end.

When I saw this thread at the top of the page I thought the clocks had gone back a year at the weekend and not an hour!
