Hi All,
There is a launch of ‘OUR VILLAGE TEAM’ a DVD history of Johnstown Bridge GAA club since it was founded in 1942.
It takes place in The Hamlet Court Hotel in Johnstown Bridge on Friday 14th November at 7. 30 pm. All are welcome to the preview. M C on the night will be Killian Whelan of KFM.
Kieran McGeeney will do the honours, ably assisted by Johnny Doyle. A number of other GAA personalities will also attend.
The box set of four disks includes interviews, stories, photos and film clips that illustrate the impact a small club can have on its community and beyond.
The project took four years to complete. It involved recording over 60 hours of video and reducing this to 10. Over 120 people were interviewed mainly local, but Pat Dunny, Ollie Crinnigan, John Crofton, Peter McConnan, Johnny Doyle, Tommy Carew and others give a wider and more balanced perspective. Hundreds of photos and scores of film clips were added. Rivalry with the nearest neighbour, Carbury, features; as does major success and failure over the 71 years. An outline of the economic and social conditions of the time introduces each disk.
The final production is lively, entertaining, surprising and bound to generate debate. Not many clubs have attempted to present their past in this format. It represents great value at 20 euro per box set, and should be of interest to GAA people.
