| ELECTRIC IRELAND LEINSTER MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Saturday 16th April 2016 Aughrim (3.00) - Wicklow v Kildare
Any team news for this, is there many lads remaining from last years team? Wicklow seriously fancy themselves for this one. They are meant to have a good crop this year and went well enough in the minor league.

| The possible FF line of hyland, mcloughlin and Kelly are all there from last year and carry a serious scoring power.

| Its all well and good Wicklow fancying themselves but lets not forget that last year at both minor and under 21 level offaly did aswell against us and look what happened there.
Wicklows record at underage recently is beyond abysmal so unless something quite big has changed in the last year, Id still be expecting our lads to win this especially if they are to go on to greater things later on.

| I think they were mixed at least until the semi final v laois.. as only one of the teams came trough.. I could be wrong here, but I think the panel was cut before that semi final.
Anyway best of luck fellas.

| Dont know much about the rest of the team but if that full forward line gets enough ball they will do untold damage | |

| Don't know much about Wicklow but I hope they full back line are good . Kildare full forward line if they get goning especially to 2 coners boys will destroy them . Hyland and Kelly destroyed everything put afronte of them last year . In the semi last the ball was sent in was brutal to them . We have to wait ban and see | |

| Very best of luck to all the players and management today. Big day in any young lad's life to play minor championship for the first time. Hopefully all goes well.
Hackett tends to leave a bit to work on and we got caught by Louth last year when not fully primed. Its a better Wicklow team than what they have had for a few years and they had their minor trials last summer. Had their panel together since September and are well up for this. They beat Tipperary and Laois earlier in the year (a couple of weeks before Laois beat one of our teams in the league semi-finals). I'd be surprised we got caught like last year though. Might see McLoughlin playing out the field with a 2 man inside line. Kildare to hopefully pull away in the last quarter.

I think that is an absolute disgrace. I don't blame the lads playing. I blame the Kilkenny Co.Board for sending out their young County players to be ridiculed and embarrassed like that. If I was one of those lads parents I would be looking for heads to slap then for them to roll. How can grown men in power do that to young lads representing their County. How is it that Kildare can try and make an effort in Hurling with little or no extra funding yet Kilkenny with plenty can totally abandon football and not a word said from Croke Park. Once again it shows certain Counties can do what they want. While the rest must toe the line.

Ah ffs that's cat.. forgive the pun. It was probably their minor hurling subs playing, I believe they've done this previously.

Well done Kildare but this is an absolute disgrace and a reflection of Kilkenny Co Board's complete disregard for its young footballers

| Kilkenny - an awful septic shower when it comes to football.

| Well done to our minors on their win today. The score was a bit misleading considering there was only a point in it after the first few minutes of the second half. Once Kildare got the first goal though Wicklow let the heads drop and it was plain sailing from then on. Great performances from Hyland and Ciaran Kelly as always. | |

| Seamus, It is my understanding that following new rules which came into effect this year, if you are named in the Minor County Panel of 24 you cannot compete with an adult team until your county has been knocked out of the minor inter county competition or until you leave the panel which has to be submitted on a monthly basis. | |

| The full back Murray had a very good game for Kildare. The defence looked very good and very tight marking. I'm not sure about the midfield and half forward line if they are good enough to win another Leinster. Jimmh Hyland had an off day imo even if he did get 2 points from play, he lost a lot of ball that went in to him and was a bit greedy at times. Kelly in the other corner was excellent as was Robinson who came on as a sub. Mcloughlin from Clane was named FF but played centre forward and looks a class act. Hard to know really how good this team is as Wicklow were very limited. | |

| Much tighter game than the score suggests. We should have scope to improve as the season progresses seen as we played 2 teams in the league. Good reaction after Wicklow got back to within 1 point early in the 2nd half which is encouraging. | |
