| hate to say this but our record of late against the real top teams lost all division one games in 2018 , did not win Leinster since 2000 , won no match in super eights , and we think we are a top team over to you haunted by the way i am an optomist and i still think this could be our year | |

Bbbbbbut we beat Mayo last year and we won one AI title of any description in 53 years!! Clearly we're top class.

| Our record against Division 1 teams last year was P11 W1 D0 L11, hardly the record of a top class team. We are a decent team somewhere in the bracket between 8-12 but to suggest we are a top team is fanciful unfortunately. However the longer we stay in Div 2, the gap between us and top 6 will continue to grow.
Last year 7 of the teams in the Super 8s played Div 1 that Spring, the 8th team (Roscommon) got promoted to Div 1. No Division 1 team were knocked out by a team that competed in a lower division so even come the summer we will be up against it to get back to the super 8s.
It is unquestionably easier to integrate and give younger players game time in Div 2 so it may work out over the longer term but promotion was I would imagine one of our key aims for 2019 and we haven't achieved it.
Our next target is to get to a Leinster semi final and put in a respectable performance against Dublin before hoping for nice draws in the qualifiers to get back to Super 8s, not a whole lot to get excited about there!

| When we got relegated to Div 3 under Jason Ryan, I felt we were a lot better than we were showing.
In fairness, we have seen it in patches under O’Neill, particularly in 2017 & the second half of last year.
If we could a manager who extracted that level of performance more consistently, we would be a Div 1 fixture.
Unfortunately, for this year, all momentum has been lost, the life has been sucked out of the team & Dublin will annihilate us - if we even get that far. Also, anyone who thinks we’re reaching Super 8s again under this management is utterly deluded. As I said previously, this year is now a total waste of time.
Shame but that’s the way it is.

| There no team in division 2 fit for division 1 . The two teams that go up this year more likely be relegated next year | |

| Just to say as well - over the past 30 years, we have won the same amount of national championship finals in Croke Park as Mayo. They won 2013 minor & we won U20 last year.
But let’s not let facts get in the way of kneejerk hysteria.

But let’s not let facts get in the way of kneejerk hysteria. Mayo won the NFL in 2001.

| Bit disingenuous to restrict it to Croke Park as well HG, as if the two U21 All-Irelands they won in other venues are somehow of less value.

| It’s disingenuous to select the fact that suits your argument rather than objectively comparing what Mayo and Kildare have achieved. We’re just not operating at the same level as them over the past 20 years or so and it’s a bit ridiculous to argue that we are. | |

| Since Kildare last won a Leinster senior title Mayo have won 8 Connacht titles and played in 6 All Irelands finals.
As a Kildare supporter, although still heart broken over 1998, I would take that level of 'success' compared to what we have had in the last 20 years.

How about this scenario HG - If we could get players who provided that level of performance for any manager more consistently, we might be a Division 1 fixture. Would you also accept that backstop proposal? It can't ALWAYS be the managers' (plural) fault ergo we either don't have the quality of the consistency in the playing squad.
