Looking at the league fixtures for the remainder of the league and it seems that (if you included today) the fixtures have 6 rounds down for Sundays at 3pm after the start of the inter-county season. And until the county seniors' first game was changed to a Sunday they had 7 games fixed on Sundays. I wonder what was wrong with generally having the games on Saturday evenings as used to be the case? It's crazy, really, putting our own games up in competition with the inter-county season and you'd think the temperance association were involved as well. Are we trying to stop lads from having a few drinks at the weekend? And nevermind that leaving the Sundays generally free would help out family men involved.
Then of course you had the chaos this weekend with a load of fixtures changed due to the juniors playing on Wednesday. Surely this fixture was known ahead of time and we could have had a proper list of fixtures for this weekend. The list published in the papers bore no resemblance to the games that were actually on. Going by the official website, it seems three games in Division 1 were moved and 6 in Division 2.
I know a lot of lads here weren't fond of Padraig Ashe but he had the fixtures running far better than is the case now.
