| And if Glenns nomination hadn't been withdrawn it would have to go bact to the clubs to be voted on at next month's CB meeting now that could have been embarrassing. | |

| The Kildare Senior Football Management Team has been confirmed: Manager: Cian O'Neill. Selectors: Padraig Brennan, Brian Flanagan, Bryan Murphy. | |

| It's absolutely absurd that the club's should have any say in the appointment of any Senior intercounty manager in the first place. Let alone his removal .
On what basis would the club's be making their decision given the fact that none were present at the interviewing process.
Could safely say that the vote result would not be an informed one. |

Exactly ,And then had Cian O Neill interviewed as the new Kildare manager on KFM the Saturday of the Club semis 3 days prior to his ratification at the county board meeting. Its as if the CB have no ability to learn from their mistakes , this appointment had to be done in a manner above any suspicion given the environment that had built up over the last few years , but guess what , slipshod as ever with a Legend and reasonably accomplished manager treated as a pawn . Now before anyone says i have an agenda , i actually wish Cian well ,he has a top class coaching reputation , hes a Kildare man giving up his time and given the CBs monetary situation id imagine its for little or nothing too . In my book substance and how you conduct your affairs still count for something , and also tends to be a fundamental starting point for success , dont think its present in this instance . Fargo if you were ticking a box on the ballot paper who'd get your vote Cian or Glen. And why? |

I would think a lot of new, younger faces on the panel this year judging by the selectors chosen. Could be the biggest clear out in years.

I think it's the right way to go but it will take time and I'd hope people will show patience if we don't hit the ground running from day one.

But whos doing the interviewing , what are their attributes , what is their track record on head hunting ? , who is expected to finance the incoming managerial set up ..... im speaking in general terms . Like it or not the GAA is still a comittee based organisation .

And why? It probably would be Cian , but not by a major margin and in vastly different circumstances , but the point is those are the circumstances that have been the backdrop and i think its already a less than ideal situation . Im not questioning the calibre of the candidate .

| From those who've worked in football sense with Murphy, only heard really great things. And was also told he's very busy man so for him to commit must mean serious belief. This gets better and better! | |

Yeah if they were willing to come on board with Glenn I think we should get them in at underage level with Development teams and so on. Then all going well they can follow them through. We need to keep looking ahead and nurture some fresh managerial talent too. Even a lad like Flanno who was always a good reader of the game and is a clever fella. He will never play again but might want to come on board. There are a few more like him I'm sure.
In the here and now Fennin might be a good shout to come in with O'Neill. Well predicted this man, fresh look about the set up and great to see Bryan Murphy involved. As has been said youth looks like getting a chance.

| Not bad appointments, not as good as the alternative selectors however in my opinion. Think Murphy is a good appointment and i know he is a very busy man outside football as you say Tommy so he must believe and Brennan is a very good reader of the game. Never believed in Brian Flanagan for some reason and always saw him as a weak link both in reading the game and mentally in the big games but hope he does a good job here. I think the rest of the backroom will be top class and i would expect to see a few more surprises in the nest few weeks. | |

This is completely at odds with what management and fellow players thought of him, even when he wasn't picked. Maybe you are mistaking it for his shortcomings skill-wise. He was hard and committed, and a good hoover. He wasn't a good distributor. But his culture is well suited to an inter-county culture. Would expect a few more new names next year but it's overegging it a bit to say youth will finally be given its head. Remember 10 U21s playing championship in 2013? There has been an absolutely monumental turnover of players since 2012. But obviously, there is another year on and a few more will hopefully make the team and some more will make the 3-35. Vital that all the experience isn't jettisoned because the management on their own can't inculcate the necessary culture. So some players who live and breathe that culture on the 30-35 is vital. And it's something you can more than afford with 30-35.

| 30-35 sounds ideal Ogie but the big obstacle is the extra cost with that amount of players training. If we can make progress in that area then we can really improve on the field as well. | |

| Interesting times ahead and some interesting appointments have been made. I discounted O’Neill as a realistic candidate as I thought he would find it hard to walk away from his Kerry role so was delighted when I heard otherwise, that said I feel sympathy for Glen. Not so much his management team. Doyle is involved with Maynooth Sigerson next year and he can learn his trade there. Rainbow has experience and perhaps could have been a decent addition but no doubt his time will come again. Earley I don’t think has been involved in a coaching capacity at any level so maybe if he wants to get involved we can get him in through the development squads. Flanagan is an interesting appointment. Not sure if he has had any involvement before but he’d be keen and if he is as determined as he was on the field and open minded than thats half the battle. My only concern with him is will he be able to be objective about lads he has soldiered with, whose intercounty futures might be on the line. Think Murphy’s knowledge of the youth in the county will be invaluable once he doesn’t dismiss guys who may be potential late developers and weren’t part of his underage teams. Coming out of Division 3 will be a sticky but very achievable task. It affords management the opportunity to give a handful of debuts along the way. Feely involved will be a great addition. With the exception of Bolton and Leper I think most of our panel is the good side of 30 so talk of clear out may be hasty. We might also see the return hopefully of McGrillen and/or Morgan O’Flaherty whos presence would be invaluable even if they don’t make it on to the team. Peter Kelly Eoin Doyle Fergal Conway Paul Cribben and Niall Kelly are all potential all stars on their day and all young lads if they can stay injury free and perform consistently, they can drive this team for the next 5 or 6 years in the way that Bolton, Foley, JD, Leper and co drove the team under McGeeney. |

| I heard off a reliable source that the county board are not funding the new management but that Croke Park themselves are. It, according to my source was an arrangement between all concerned parties and part of the delay in the process was to do with croke park finalising details. I'd be inclined to believe it!! | |

heard that as well, also glen ryan was after the laois job more than kildare job Absolute and utter bullshit. He was devastated not to get the Kildare job. I believe He (Glen) was approached by Laois.. but was only interested in the Kildare job. Im a bit surprised to see Murph as a Selector, given that He is also U21 Manager.. but have to say if He can Work as a link with both, then its very good.

Not sure I understand this. Why would Croke Park fund the Kildare management. What do they get in return? If they fund Kildare then they will have to fund every other County. I can't believe this would happen for a minute. There would be a can open and the worms would be running amok. Also after the Club Kildare deterioration post Croke Park sticking their noses in, I would not want them anywhere near a position that could influence so much.

| Brady's are not doing it for the good of Kildare GAA they must be getting something worthwhile out of it or as a business what would be the point, they are not a charity.
The sponsor should have no influence on the jersey outside of their logo. The purple stripes are an abomination and should be killed with fire at the first opportunity.
