Kildare Ladies will play the TG4 All Ireland Intermediate Final on Sunday 27th Sept,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
A strong mature Waterford will provide the opposition to this young Kildare team (Average age 21).......
I hope plenty of Forum members go along to Croke Park to support the Ladies...................

Amazing that the two counties will also be meeting in the intermediate camogie final. Best of luck to them.

and you will have a choice of which to support,,,,,,,,,,,
Much was made last week of "young" Offaly v "experienced" Kildare when in fact Kildare were the younger team !!!!
Kildare will be the younger team, again, in the Final.
Best wishes to the Camogie girls,,,,,,,,,, especially the Kildare team !!!!

I suppose the thing is that Kildare would still be viewed as a senior team having taken the decision to drop down rather than naturally evolving in that direction, whereas Offaly were a bona fide intermediate team. It's sort of ironic, given the county board would not allow such an action domestically. But if they can win, it will have given the young girls great experience and momentum. Hopefully that, rather than sating an appetite because Kildare should be targeting more given the size of the county. There have been a few examples of targeting B championships rather than A championships at underage - that feeds bad habits, and the board has been a bit complicit in that, particularly in reducing the number of club fixtures to clear the path for such pursuits, particularly at adult level. A low bar prevents high achievement. But I think given the young people that have been introduced, there is a great opportunity to hit the ground running at senior if the appetite is there. There is nothing like the buzz that comes from contending but it needs to be used properly. If this is the endgame, it's worth a lot less. Waterford have been there or thereabouts at intermediate for a few years so they should be tougher than Offaly anyway. But with the likes of hardened senior campaigners in Ash, Maria and Jo to name just three there with the energy (and quality) of the kids, Kildare can do it.
It will be tough for the camogie team who have used the momentum of success to continue building, winning regularly at league and championship and now reaching the intermediate final in only their second season back up. But you could never rule them out given what they have done in the past five or six years and where they have come from.
