| A poor year by Sarsfields high standards. Some very abject championship performances. Not surprising | |

| Chairperson Highball just to be correct but yes it is a massive coup for Sarsfields and one the committee deserve huge credit for. | |

| A lot of pressure on him and Sarsfields to deliver to knock Moorefield off their perch.... will be interesting and entertaining to watch how it unfolds......... | |

| I hear Athy are on the lookout also. Be interesting to see how far Marty is willing to push the boat in his pursuit of a new manager. | |

Again this seems to be a costly appointment? The money being spent on managers is an absolute disgrace imo. Clubs living beyond their means in a lot of cases

| Paul Curran in Celbridge, Jack O'Connor in Moorefield, Liam McHale in Naas, suddenly Kildare Club football is the place to be. Is there anyone else out there ??? | |

Niall Cronin is the manager, a Naas clubman, secretary of the club when he was 18 years of age, started off in management with their 3rds, won two minor county championships, he won't be costing anything. They would traditionally have very strong links with Mayo in terms of former players, like David Nestor who is still in the town and club. Wouldn't have been a stretch to make contact. Of course he's getting a few bob, I didn't see anywhere how much so I don't know how costly it is, but every outside manager is getting paid. Sure we all know of players that came into the county that got paid to choose particular clubs over another. So the money being spent on managers has been spent for many years - Ireland soccer international Paddy Mulligan was paid to train St Laurence's back in the '70s or '80s - but it's being spent at junior club level for years so I don't know what the big shock is about.

Nothing Against Naas. Made the same point on Curran going to Celbridge. I think something needs to be done here. I see money being spent in all clubs in Kildare on these senior managers and in most cases there is NO DIFFERENCE in the position of the club after their term. There are plenty of good managers close to every club in Kildare or even club members (as is the case with Naas) where surely they know enough about training teams to do the job just as good and at half the price????

| Not sure on the right answer as you have to judge every case on it merits and every committee needs to do whats right for their club and try and win as many games as possible the problem I find with internal managers in some cases including my own club is too much politics and in a lot of cases there will be separate agendas from different fractions against certain other people from clubs and divided opinions, my son is better than your son, he should be taking the frees, he should be playing etc. etc. etc. This leads to the crap of 'I'm not playing for the prxck sure he done whatever when he was playing etc. Looks like Two Mile House and Moorefield and a few more have got it right but anyone that knows people within these clubs will also tell you the difficulties. Its a tough job in many cases and I have no issues with paying within reason externally (or internally) obviously the ideal scenario is to work from within however even look at the politics underage managers have to deal with in many cases!!!!!! | |
