Realistically there needs to be a two tiered championship with multiple games in each tier for each team as a minimum.

The likes of Carlow, Waterford, Antrim, Tipperary, Leitrim are training all year pumping money in for what. They have absolutely no hope of ever winning a provincial let alone Sam Maguire.

What benefit was Limerick and Tipp getting hammered yesterday to either team.

A first round thumping and then a qualifier exit. Realisitically there is still 100,000 being spent on preparing some of these teams for nothing. Expenses to county players that wouldn't get on the best club teams in other counties.

16 team in Sam Maguire competition.

16 teams in alternative competition.

Teams seeded based on League performance. 4 groups of 4 in each.

Bottom 2 in 1/4 finals in both.

Bottom teams in Sam Maguire competition groups into relegation play offs.

The whole thing needs a complete shake up.
