| I know Sash lads and management were not impressed with this situation yesterday. How Kilcock could not have informed Sarsfields earlier in the week that they couldn't field a team is beyond me. In my humble opinion Kilcock shouldn't be allowed compete in the A next year, this will stop this from happening again. | |

| The bigger question is how in the name of jaysus had they only 12 players for an A c'ship quarter final? | |

| The fact Sarsfields beat them by 42 points no more than 2 weeks obviously made a few of them reluctant to turn up yesterday, this goes back to the problem of 8 out of 10 teams getting through. | |

| Flaw with the championship! Lost by 42 points to sash last week then having to play them again?! Hardly blame the Kilcock lads for not wanting to face another humiliation. Playing 15 games to knock 2 teams out is ridiculous. Lose by 42 points you have no place in a quarter final |

| IMO There is an awful lot wrong with how this has been run. Champ C for example. Rheban gave Castledermot a walkover, because they could not field a team, Kilcullen lose out on a qtr final place because of this, Castledermot go on to lose in the qtr, (taking nothing away from St Kevins) Rheban go on to beat Carbury by 19 points. too much red tape when it suits but if the same rule applied as in the league teams giving walkovers would be out of the competition. this is not fair on any party. | |

| Unexpected result in Minor C last night. Sarsfields 2 beat Lexlip by a heavy score, that was 1st V 8th and Lexlip had won all previous 3 games!! Sash must have upped there game, Lexlip missing players, which can happen at minor age group, or is that just championship football?!! | |

| Sash brought in a few of the u/16 panel who won the A championship on saturday which obviously made a huge difference to the panel. | |

| Sound's like sarsfield are In it to win it. It's not in the spirit of the game or c/ship. It will haunt them yet. I hope one of the smaller clubs go on to win it. Mike sounds like leixlip were messed around a bit. | |

| Sorry Bob but if u don't enter a championship to try and win it, why would any club bother entering it? Surely every club in the competition trying their level best to win it is the essence of competition? | |

| topcat, that is a very narrow view, yes, every team should be in it to win it, but if you have 50 plus lads as a second team, then being in chmp C is a blantant disgrace to other teams that are scraping teams together. this being allowed to happen will do no good to Kildare football in the long run. The sash have done alot of work and fairplay but a sash head said to me . "Kildare football is only alive because of us". that was his view, I am not saying that this is the clubs view but disregarding the core of the second team at the expense of the fringe players is non value add IMO. have your second team in Champ 2 and let the teams that are trying to build, build. The sash will be surveying their Kingdom and will be suffering the plight of Alexander Shelkirk. | |

Sounds like Leixlip were messed around a bit in this instance particularly with the change of venue to Hawkfield, that may as well be a home game for Sarsfields. However the real issue here is how underage football in Leixlip got so bad that we are losing to Sarsfield's B teem loaded with 15/16 year olds in the C championship. 10-12 years ago we were beating their first team at minor level.

| Strides been made bag of white. Takes time but leixlip had not won a game in 4 years at this level. 75% of the team are there next year. It's our senior team I worry about more. | |

| I have never seen a team/club so chastised for actually winning a game!! Sarsfields have won the last 3 u/16 championships so should be able to field two competitive teams at minor this year. the fact we are in the semi final of both is of huge credit to the management set up of the minor teams within the club this year. The comment made above I hope was made in jest, if not then no that is not the view of the club, we are a club like every other just trying our best to compete at as many levels as possible. | |

Yes and the problems with producing competitive teams at minor level for the last number of years isn't helping the situation with the senior team.

| So Sarsfields got a walkover on Saturday in the minor A. Also on Saturday they won the Under 16 A. To suit these lads, Leixlip are fucked around in the minor C and forced to travel to Newbridge to play Sarsfields under lights on Monday evening. I note that the Leixlip Under 16s were not playing over the weekend. In the similar situation outlined above with St Edwards and Sallins, there were fixtures for both teams on Saturday and yet these teams played on Sunday evening.
It certainly all bears the appearance of above board fairness and people being sporting. Nevermind the implications of Sarsfields coming from nowhere to star in the championship knock out games just like they did in the league.

| The problem with 8 out of 10 teams getting through was mentioned a couple of times on this forum. absolutely. if you are playing 15 games, go straight to semi's. a team being chastised for doing well? a team being punished for doing well. same applies to Sarsfields and Leixlip. in the league Rheban and Leixlip looked to get a game changed on Easter Weekend. this was not allowed to happen. last weekend Sarsfield got their game changed. and if anyone was looking for a fixtures change or an update there was none. an hour before the game started kildare gaa website was updated. I am not taking away from what the Sash has done with their club, but my issue is this. treat all clubs equal, big and small. I will refer to my earlier question. if you have 50 plus players at your disposal, some, county\ex county players, and lads that just won an under 16 championship. lads that cant make the 1st team but can play senior.?? should they be in Champ C. seriously, if you can justify that with an honest answer tell it to the Leixlip lads who worked hard to get this far and get beat by a team that came 8th, winning one of their 3 games by 2 points. a 22 point turnaround. come on???? | |

| I know that Sallins had asked county board for the st edwards game to be moved a day or 2 but st edwards refused because of lads having to go off to college but sallins refused to have their previous game against each other moved as well. | |

| Bob12 and bag of white, I worry what direction our club is going in, in general. Serious work being done at underage, from 15/16 years of age down to the mites. But above that, from minor and up, there's a serious problem. In both Codes our seniors are struggling. Lack of numbers over the past few years at minor level was a big problem. Since those 3 minor titles around the millennium year we have not driven on. | |
