| One point from play for Athy in the first half, came into it a bit for the last 10 minutes or so of the first half but still went in 4-2 at the break.
Much better overall display from Confey, some impressive performances all over the pitch and should definitely fancy themselves to beat Leixlip in 2 weeks time.

| do we think any of these Confey players should be on the senior panel? At the moment they have no one involved, obviously lynch Gately and slattery have been on the panel before. I still think Leixlip will cause them problems both teams play identical football but I'd say the Confey forwards will get them over the line | |

| Athy were terrible today. Missing few players in States but also missing heart and leaders on the pitch. Looks like this team will not fulfil potential they had. | |

| Colm Chan is defo worth a look in my opinion as is Slattery who was in there as a wing back previously but is now doing serious damage as a forward, great pace and also a great eye for goal. | |

| I have always rated slattery higher as a wing back but the scores he put up in the league speak for itself | |

| How Athy were viewed locally was interesting when I went home. Any story I heard was about guys thinking they'd the future sown up in 2011 to stories ranging from topless in square to smashing up the jacks in a bar as if kings of the town. Just what was passed onto me by several people I spoke to. Five years later and achieved nothing. Great waste.

| Don't sit on the fence anyways Tommy As was said above Athy were missing leaders on the pitch today, hard to know how much they were missing Hyland and Niall Kelly but if they're relying on those two to bring leadership, unity and a bit of fight to the table then things won't be getting better any time soon for them. Apart from Killian Mulhall who showed a bit of fight in a very literal sense they didn't really look to bothered for a lot of the game. Slats and Colm Chan were impressive for Confey along with Paddy Griffin and McCann when he came on at half time - good bit of pace and broke well from the back. Wouldn't say there were too many standout performances though - solid team display. They mightn't have anybody who'd be county standard but based on today Athy certainly wouldn't either. | |

| David Hyland was playing yesterday. Kelly, Mulhall, Mahon and few others away. Think u got the wrong club who 'smashed up' a bar there too. | |

Not liked locally and achieved f**k all last five years. Basically a team, while not all, filled with egotistical twats. [/quote]
Ha, the first image that came to mind was of the Hyena's in Pride Rock under Scar's ill fated reign in the Lion King.
As ever Tommy, not afraid to piss on your own doorstep! Fair ball's! |

| Interesting that the two teams playing championship next week both lost to teams with a week off before their next championship match. Confey showing real aggression and physicality but felt at times the referee was too quick to blow up for frees. A Confey player got a yellow card early on for a shoulder that in other counties would not have merited a card. As others have pointed out there is little proper tackling in our club game and it shows at county level but the way our games are refereed, it wouldn't encourage you to get stuck in. | |

| No second teams in Div 4, it is the 2016 Div 3 (excluding Suncroft and Miltown) plus Castlemitchell and Caragh.
Div 1 and 2 2016 are really split into 3 divisions

| Can anyone provide a definitive list of the 4 divisions for next year? I've an idea more or less in my head but not sure of a few teams standings, particularly with div's 2 & 3.... | |
