| So anyone know when the fixtures are out for this. Would it be to much to know them before Christmas so an odd weekend away can be booked in advance.
We all know we ain't playing Dublin in Newbridge in the foreseeable future, so it would be nice to get Donegal, Galway (would make a change), Tyrone and Mayo at home
Nice Away weekend in Kerry wouldn't be objectionable. But as usual we'll probably get three at home and four back breakers away.
Last thing if the County Board give up a home tie with Dublin and make us play away I may have to write a stern letter, either that or light the pitch forks.

| Championship draw before anyone knows NFL fixtures - such is the world of the GAA.
Realistically it's two of us, Monaghan, Galway and Donegal for the drop. Some impressive performances this year but way caved and defended so lamely against Armagh had us all tearing out whatever hair we have left.
Priority is making major defensive improvements and just toughening up all around - amongst top eight teams, we are still a relatively soft touch, mentally and physically. But tbh I'm glad we're in Div 1 as it let's lads know where they stand pretty sharpish.
County board will deal with Dublin issue in usual spineless fashion, no doubt. We last played competitive game at home against them in 1995!!!
Anyway, once more into the breech etc. I'm telling you we are all stone cold mad. More so than Mayo even.

| If it is Portlaoise, again makes me raise the question of why not Athy? People will say not up to standard but there is no way it's any worse than where Louth, Antrim and Monaghan (when it not in Clones) play their games. Roscommon were using a club ground for a while as well before the pitch got re-done in the Hyde. And there are no different rules in terms of quality for Division One. Be nice to keep the money in the county and actually have proper home games. | |

Bloody hell, start the ground works when the weather improves in April. What's the rush, we've already waited 50 years too long what's another 6 months. Shooting ourselves in both feet if that is true.

| Bang on Rex, you'd have to seriously wonder about the organisation skills – or lack thereof – in county board... And anyway as Tommy says, if not Newbridge, should be Athy. As he points out, easily up there with where Monaghan, Roscommon etc have played league games. End of discussion as far as I'm concerned. Moving games to Portlaoise a disgrace!! | |

| Yes and Monaghan, Tipperary, Roscommon grounds arguably worse. Therefore, play it in Athy. Can't believe I'm actually having to argue for playing Kildare's home games in Kildare. This still a Kildare forum, yeah? | |

Monaghan pitch can hold Ulster and capacity 31,000 Final. Roscommon has improved from last time kildare played in it and held Connacht in 2016 capacity is 25,000. . Tipperary rarely play in that pitch Kildare played in . Simple answer Athy does not pass health and safety

| I'm sorry but that is fake news... If county board really put the effort in, there is no reason - I mean NO REASON - why Athy can't pass a health and safety inspection. When you see some of the absolute kips league games are played in - and that Kildare have themselves played in - we should be fighting tooth and nail to play all home games in county. | |

| The image Tommy shared there is a field with some railings. Can someone explain to me how that passes the mythical health and safety inspection and we can't?!! | |

| You are referring to Clones; Monaghan regularly played in Scotstown and last league lined out in Castleblaney. Roscommon ground mentioned was Kiltoom not the Hyde. Tipp regularly play games outside of Semple, two of their three homes games last league were in Clonmel and Tipp town (that'd be this place http://i4.irishmirror.ie/sport/gaa/gaelic-football/gaelic-football-news/article2657085.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Gaelic.jpg)And as I showed you, Antrim's ground for all home games has two small grass banks only. Sure Athy isn't luxury but if that lot can pass health and safety and hold games, no way Athy is any worse.

| Yeah, that was pretty bad. I remember leaving and having to traverse what seemed to be a lake at the exit gate. Not much worry about health and safety that weekend. | |

Would be very ignorant in comparison to you guys but I presume the demand for Antrim games, seeing as they're mentioned here, would not be the same as for Kildare games. Capacity wouldn't be an issue. Kiltoom probably doesn't have to deal with too many away supporters. Clonmel doesn't have to deal with too many home supporters and the picture you post Tommy is a game in Tipp against Kerry. Could have played it in my back garden for the number of people that were gonna be there. Monaghan would have a fervent enough support and obviously when meeting another Ulster side, that would be big - but it would probably be in Clones? Kildare have a huge support and where the county is, is accessible enough to everywhere. The interest will only be greater because it's Division 1. Could Athy really cope with Kildare-Dublin? Kildare-Kerry? Kildare-Mayo? Ye know better than me and if ye say it could, I will believe ye. Meanwhile, a positive that work is being done on St Conleth's Park surely? And great that this is being done while still able to host games, if fone is correct.

| I don't care about capacity issues - and personally, if I miss a couple of Kildare game because they're sold out, I also don't care. My attitude is good - it means football in the county is going well, which is what I do care about. And there will be plenty of other opportunities to see them.
People seriously need to get their heads out of their asses over this - there is NO downside to Kildare playing their home games in, like, Kildare. Can't believe I actually had to write that. Again. On a Kildare forum.
