| Where has it all went wrong?
This time last year. We lost to Galway twice in the space of 2 weeks. Away by 1 point and in the league final by a point.
We scored 11-102 over the course of the league. Creating and scoring goals and playing some good football. I do realise it was a step up this year but we should have built on this and improved.
Brophy is back almost a full year now. Feely has another year under his belt. Dan Flynn too. We have in our ranks 3 ex professional athletes.
A good yardstick or measurement would be Galway as we were close and on a par with them last season. Walsh, Varley, Comer are big players for them all coming from their u21 team from 2013 - not too dissimilar to ourselves we have a lot from the 2013 u21 team also. We've appeared in the last 4 minor Leinster finals winning 3 out of those 4 - 2013, 2015 and 2016.
In the last 10 years of leinster minor football - We have won 3 finals and lost in 2. Dublin have won Dublin have won 5. In terms of producing players there is little between us. However transferring that to u21 the stats are alarming. In the last 10 years Dublin have won 7 out of the 10 finals where we have only 2. So we are producing the players but not nurturing them through to u21 and senior level enough it would seem.
We can have all of the underage structures and produce minor winning teams all we like but until we start to transfer the footballing boys into footballing men we are at nothing.

- Just crossed my mind today - if Carlow were to beat Louth (as things stand) and then beat Kildare they would reach a Leinster semi-final by beating two teams that don't have a win between them in the league. If Louth beat Carlow then the semi-finalist coming from the Kildare/Louth side will have got there with just one win in league or championship this year, which would give great hope to Laois/Wexford/Westmeath!!!!!!
My own guess is that we'll be playing Carlow in the quarter-final. Surely Louth would have two wins once they’ve beaten Carlow and us? Fair point 365 What I meant to say was that the semi-finalists could be a team without a league win. Having seen Carlow on Saturday, I'm not sure now they'll beat Louth

| The difference Xavi is that when the Dubs win Leinster at underage they nearly always go on to win the All Ireland we on the other hand struggle in the Semi and until our underage teams start to win a semi or All Ireland we will keep struggling | |

| Still a strong panel even without Ben McCormack... As we all know, lots of ability but when oh when are they going to grow a pair and win a close game against quality opposition?
I really think Super 8s are going to be savagely competitive. I think there are six teams pretty much certs to be there: Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Galway, Tyrone & Monaghan. After that, probably two from Kildare, Donegal, Roscommon and Cavan – although there's likely to a bolter or two pushing hard to get in there so we certainly have our work cut out.

| Would put Tipperary ahead of Kildare right now and Cork and Armagh at least level with us.
Whichever team loses Munster final has a good chance of reaching Super 8's.
Don't think we'll even reach Leinster Final honestly. All the signs are of a group that's lost its way completely and having to go to Croker for the semi final (which baffles me) could be the final nail.
Assuming we get over Louth / Carlow of course.. which is nothing even close to a foregone conclusion.
Got my optimistic head on today as you can see.

| If we did manage to get to the super 8's we would likely end up in a group with Kerry, Galway and Monaghan. Hard to see us getting a win there based on league form. Think the return to the clubs will help us as they will have an opportunity to enjoy football again which they clearly were not doing during the 2nd half of the league. We need to keep Neil Flynn fit if only for the frees. We wouldn't have reached a final in 98 without Graven and Flynn is a much better player. | |

| K365 think a scenario similar to one you outline is probably most likely outcome...
Team certainly still capable of having a good summer, but would take the kind of guts and resolve that, frankly, we've never seen from them before.
Re provincial winners, Kerry and Dubs certs, Ulster final is between Tyrone & Monaghan, and think Keegan's absence may swing Mayo game in Galway's favour, although they still have a mountain of work to do after that to get over Roscommon.
Either way, I expect Galway & Mayo to be in Super 8s, and would put Roscommon comfortably ahead of Kildare on current form.

One of those teams is far from certain to get to their provincial final

| With the ability in this squad, even after poor league, they should still be able to walk to Leinster final. Unfortunately, I don't trust them as far as I could throw them. What have they done to show us they're a tough, dogged team who'll keep bouncing back a la the Monaghans and Mayos? In that sense, they've done... nothing much really.
In fact, they haven't done much to convince anyone that they aren't yet ANOTHER Kildare team who are all flash and no substance. Can you imagine if either of those two Leinster games turned into a dog fight? Unfortunately you could see our boys shitting themselves again.

Heard the same in 2016 after becoming a Division Two team through winning, where our route to the decider blocked by a couple of Division Four teams. This time after becoming a Division Two team through losing, our route to the decider is blocked by a couple of Division Three teams. Just saying...

Just saying... If we have regressed to the levels of 2016, then we are in trouble. However, despite an utterly depressing and hopeless league campaign, I believe we are still Dublin's closest challengers in Leinster (albeit still still miles off them), and quite a fair bit ahead of other teams in Leinster (more an indictment on the quality of football in Leinster, than it is an endorsement of Kildare)
