| Ok now that the league is nealy over and lets be honest league usually counts for nothing who do u think are the teams in contention for the Championship?
My opinions would be Sarsfields, Carbury, Moorefield, St laurences...........all the obvious ones
othe teams maybe? : Athy, St kevens , Maynooth
From what i hear Sarsfields are goin really well , also carbury meant to be playing great stuff , also hear Maynooth are coming very good for the first time ever could they posibly have a chance?
Anyway id like feed back , have been out of the country for a while so im not up to date
on another note i expect we will beat meath on sunday , with kerry , cork and dublin all goin through as well
Come on the lilies :afro:

| Kildareclubman hard to talk about the championship until Kildare are knocked out, and heres hoping we are not knocked out at all. I don't know if you remember 98, but the club championship was not finished with until late November, even then the final between Towers and Clane would not have took place under normal circumstances but under pressure to get the game out of the way it was played in monsoon like conditions, lakes never mind pools were lying on the St Conleths Pk pitch such was the incessant downpours, it was a farcical affair.
But this situ will continue to happen as long as the GAA have no hard and fast rule in place by that I mean the Club Championship in every county should be completed say by the end of August and no county management team can dictate, and all players are available whether playing with the county or not, if a player gets injured well its just bad luck, basically whats good for the goose is good for the gander, no county is gaining an adantage as such, am I correct in saying that the Kerry championship is continuing as we speak?.

| athy with only one point so far if they draw one of the big teams they will struggle to make the quarters. i can`t see a winner coming from anyone else but moorefield larries or celbridge, sash aint going well a poor allenwood team beat them last week | |

| You probably are right kildarecat. Thing is Kerry are guaranteed to reach this satge every year in the All Ireland Series. The play a maximum of 3 matches every year to reach this stage.
Kildare so far this year in the championship have played 6 games, and Meath on Sunday will be their 7th. I dont think you can really comapre the 2 scenarios. Kerry havent played a competitive match since the munster final. They have been lying idle twiddling their thumbs the last few weeks, no harm at all gettting some club championship games played down there.
Laois are knocked out since the begining of this month and are only starting their championship in the coming weeks.
Tyrone have played 1 round and are not playing another until Tyrone are gone. |

| Kerry are not always guaranteed just the 3 games fionn as Cork have always been a big threat to Kerry in Munster, won in 2008 and 2009 you might remember Kerry living a pretty charmed life through the qualifiers last year. But I can see your point as regards a team winning their provincial its an opportunity to play a few more rounds of the county championship , but in Kildare even if we won Leinster they still wouldn't play any games that has always been the way in this county, yet if they look at the bigger picture players going back to play competitive games with their clubs will actually keep the edge on them instead of the players going stale from lack of competitive action while the teams coming through the qualifiers are building up momentum. Oh no that can't happen shock of horrors one of the players might get injured !, a player can get injured anytime, in a friendly game, a training warm up, a training kick around, playing with your county, playing with your club, or even get injured at work [depending on the nature of your job of course].
Nothing will change as long as the County team management are allowed to be all powerful, thats why I suggested that the GAA heirarchy make a rule for all and sundry that your club championships should be finished by a set period of time.

| I reckon its hard to see past the usual - Moorefield, Laurences, Celbridge or Carbury as outsiders. League shows form so cant see Sarsfields doing well. But they have won 2 out of 2 so in with a chance. Anyway early days yet. Im sick every year waiting round to play off c'ship. | |

| Yeah it's hard to look beyond the moores, larries or celbridge but carbury have been flying in the league and with the flats brothers in great form you can't write them off. | |

| http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-football/mcgeeney-still-hopeful-as-fears-grow-earley-season-could-be-over-2281737.html The Kildare County Board are expected to suspend all championship matches involving their players until their interest in the All-Ireland is over. After six successive weekends of action, McGeeney is not concerned about the impact of a four-week break. "It will give us time to work on other aspects of the game that may need improvement," he said. with the leagues being over does this mean that normal club players will have no games for the next month? I hope Kildare beat down in the semi-fianl and will be cheering them on but if they win does that mean the respective champioships will not be played till after the all-ireland? thats a long wait for the 1000+ players not invovled in the county team. Not blaming the kildare team at all, and wish them the best of luck against down. just fail to se how the county board are going to figure this out. | |

| Im sure we will survive, at least we have 2 games played already. I'd be one to usually moan about this aswell but to be honest, i dont care now we are in a semi to be honest. Wouldnt want any of the lads gettin injured now or anything. | |

| County board have made the decision based on what's best for bringing home Sam Maguire.
The leagues have only just finished. The team have reached an all Ireland semi final, the third ever in 60 years. It's not like it happens every year. They should be given every opportunity to do whatever they need to do to be successful.
I play football myself, we've already played 2 rounds and I'm dying to play a third. But I'll enjoy these next few weeks to the build up to an all Ireland semi final. Yes that's right an all Ireland semi. Some people really need to get a grip |

| Heard there was a County Board meeting last night and that the Club Championship might go ahead on the weekend of the 13/14/15th of August.
Anyone confirm what happened or what was said at the meeting last night?
Did the chairman not say on KFM that championship would not be played until september? |
