| well lads, new to this and was just wondering now that the champinship is heading towards the business end, is there any players standing out that would be a welcome addition to the senior panel?
Tommy O' Neill having another great season centre back for larries, if ollie lyons is deemed big enough for county football it begars belief how tommy was told he was too small?
Kevin Callaghan is playing solid stuff for morefield also, very sticky corner back.. Tom Corley also, imho countys number one keeper.
James Eaton and Daroch Mulhall again having good games for athy, even when defences have been over-physical with them at times.. showing maturity at this level and ever consistent with there free taking..
Conor Brophy (Celbridge) should be close to senior panel should he stays injury free..
anybody think any of these can make the step up? maybe get a few o byrne cup matches into them..

| Anyone from the Intermediate or Junior ranks we should be keeping an eye out for?
Just look at the squad this year - Jimmers, P Kelly, Lynch, Bolton, Flanagan, R Kelly, K Cribbin all from intermediate and junior clubs.
We have to look beyond the Senior Championship and utilise all the talent in the county.

| i'm open to correction but was Tommy not told that there was a place for grabs at corner-back and that he could work for it from the juniors but he said 'no way'? | |

Can't say I recognise the name. What position does he play? Mulhall is a class act alright he was very accurate with his frees as well.

Jesus Tom don't know what match you were looking at! David Whyte was once again brillant for Moorefield, as was Paddy Murray...

| Mulhall kicked a lovely point from the left corner on Saturday and was faultless from free kicks too. Nice to see a free-taker kicking from the ground.
Eoghan O'Flaherty was excellent too I believe from placed balls. Good to see we have players coming through that can take the pressure off JD

| I'm all for new blood not just experienced established players but also call up some youngsters from the current minor and u21 set up, new blood knocks complacency on the head no player should think he's untouchable. There is plenty of dead wood on the current panel that should be dispatched with. | |

| who would you consider dead wood kildarecat?? i think give some 21s junior experience with kildare as its seems that it is the ideal oppertunity to establish yourself at competing at senior inter-county level.. prime example of this has to be peter kelly.. everybody heard of him as a central player but was never a corner back until the junior call up (i think)..
anybody with knowledge of intermediate and junior want to have an input to some potential players?
cathal mcnally and niall vaughan (JTB) seem to destroy most defences..

| Cathal McNally is a goal machine, don't know what age he is, but he seems to bang in at least one goal every game.
I heard that James Kavanaghs brother Eoin has been called into the squad, Again don't know how true that is and haven't seen him play much lately so can't comment on how good he is.

| Kildarecat i'm convinced you post things for a reaction.
There are between 30-40 players on a panel. 15 can start, 5 can be used as subs on any given match day thats 20 players. That leaves between 10-20 players week in week out not being used. Now my opinion of this would be rather than having between ten and twenty 18,19,20 and 21 year olds with no experience warming the bench on a regular basis why not have them playing with the Juniors and their own age groups whilst the likes of these dead wood you refer to add some experience to an otherwise inexperienced squad. There is much more to managing a team and a group of grown men and picking the best 30-40 players in the county and running the shit out of them week in week out. If it were that easy, Crofton and Nolan wold be All Irealand winning managers. |
