Good starts for Thomas Bjorn and the amateur Tom Lewis, both ended the day yesterday on 5 under. McIlroy looks a bit hot and cold, still doing well at 1 over though. Harrington is not fairing as well, currently 5 over while one of the forgotten men of Irish golf is going strong, Darren Clarke currently only 2 shots off the lead at 3 under.

From a betting viewpoint there was very little value in the three starting favourites; McIlroy, Donald and Westwood. Got decent odds on Kuchar and Mickelson, not looking great for either of them at the moment though it has to be said.

Any thoughts?

Clarkie is going well alright and he has the (links) game to win it...the problem is his mental game...I heard them on BBC this morning saying that he went to two different psychiatrists on Wednesday - one after the hour - which doesn't sound good!
As for the rest, it's one of those tournaments that anyone can win given the nature of the beast...we'll no more when the wind and the rain show up tomorrow.
Not sure who to back, could be anyone as I said, although I can't see any Americans winning it though. Bit day today for Westwood, Donald, McIlory - McDowell seems to be struggling. Maybe Harrington might come good, did reasonably well yesterday and he seems to have the mental toughness for the Open.

great to see darren clarke win the open after the rough time he has had over the 4 or 5 years, a threw gentleman and now a major winner. cheers
