| Thought we needed a new thread for talking about next year. There's a lot to talk about;
- New/returning players; Is Seán Hurley coming back? Ben McCormack? Could Sherry move up from the juniors? We're now the first county ever with a group of All-Ireland winning U20s. Presumably they'll take a year longer to emerge than an U21 team, so what can we expect from Jimmy Hyland next year? Personally I think we shouldnt load too much expectation on him
- The league; Donegal, Meath, Armagh, Cork, Tipp.... This is not an easy division. I'm still not over that Div 3 final against Clare! Anyone know when the fixtures are out?
- Leinster; We won't be seeded. This could have huge ramifications. I reckon that long route through the qualifiers to the last 8 is very hard on players even if you do win every game, which is a tall enough order
- Management; that discussion is already underway on the Super 8 thread but we're at nothing til CON makes his decision
- Other counties; We don't exist in a vacuum. Who else will be looking forward to next year? Anyone looking vulnerable?

| 2019 will in many ways be the defining year for this group of players, not saying they have to win the all Ireland but they must show progression but they will start to fade away. For me promotion is a must, Leinster after last year is important and we must prove we can challenge Dublin. I believe CON will be offered more time so players who left the panel previously will have to work hard to get back in. With only Leper stepping away and the prospect of 4/6 new faces pushing for game time we're not in a bad place | |

| No home games in next years league campaign, if Conleth’s out of action as forecasted, could be a stumbling block on bouncing straight back to division 1 | |

| Looks like CON will be staying put for 2 years - with a management team to be confirmed in the next 2 weeks.
Not really sure how to feel about this - seems to me that the 12 month period of not winning a game, and losing to Carlow have been just swept under the carpet.
It took the #newbridgeornowhere debacle to get performances to anywhere near an acceptable level during the summer.

| You'd have to say there's still big question marks over him. We have a strong case for being the most wildly inconsistent team in the country during his reign...
2016 - League promotion followed by two of the worst Kildare championship performances ever
2017 - Promotion to Div 1 and a Leinster final appearance, all achieved playing some sensation football - - followed by shocking choke job v Armagh
2018 - Twelve month losing streak culminating in one of the worst Kildare championship defeats ever. Swiftly followed by one of the best Kildare wins ever and a decent - albeit winless - Super 8s run.
Inconsistency be thy name. Can we remedy that plus improve the defence & our composure in tight games? We've been saying a lot of this for three years of course. In a way you're thinking if he hasn't sorted these issues by now he never will but it looks like he's going to be around for a while yet. Maybe some new background appointments might help?
These lads might actually benefit hugely from a figure like Caroline Currid.

Well something has to change, surely we can't be happy with last year based on 1 victory against Mayo - up to that point we were a shambles and that can't be ignored. This team/management won't (and shouldn't need) a controversy to get motivated, if there was no newbridgeornowhere campaign last year, let's be honest - Mayo would have beaten Kildare and CON would be gone by now.

| Going on the road so much could make it harder to go straight up, but we should at least be coming into the championship with more wins than losses under our belts. I know they are young lads but I would like to see Hyland and Masterson getting blooded.
Apart from that we are not losing anyone bar Leper and lads at the back have another year to mature. Murray and Flynn should hopefully come on with more time within the set-up. On top of all this Kevin Feely was not right last year so him at 100% is like a new player. Niall Kelly will hopefully find form again.
I still think we need to shore up the defence or just protect ourselves a bit more.

Well he never seemed 100% the season gone. I am not sure what his exact ailment was to be honest. Was there not an ongoing muscle ailment? He only got a few minutes v Longford to save the game and also against Monaghan he wasn't moving as freely as usual. That wasn't a dig at all by the way if you were taking it up that way.

| I heard davy burke and lacey were approached but have since declined, and roli and enda murphy are stepping away. Couple of vacancies still to be filled it seems. When is the county board AGM? Surely they'd need to be ratified at/ before then?! | |
