| Was on the radion that its the Pittsburgh Steelers who are in the Superbowl in a few weeks. They have owners of irish decent (or claim ta be like alot of Americans). The Aviva was mentioned too. If it means a few shillings for croker why not get a few more nixers when it aint being used. Wonder is Garth Brooks still knocking about. | |

| http://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/championship/2011/0127/nfl_crokepark_pittsburgh.htmlLink to the story there, would be a big boost for Croke Park to get a game like this since they've lost the international matches. The matches over in London for the last few years seem to have a been a really big success and the NFL have already looked into the possibility of playing a second match outside of North America, China and Australia being two countries talked about before. Would be good alright if it was the Steelers who came over to play, especially so if they win a third Superbowl in six seasons next weekend, bit of an Irish link to them at least. Probably get the usual minority giving out about foreign games in Croke Park but we should be past that at this stage, an NFL game possibly involving the winners of the Superbowl would provide great exposure for Croke Park and would be a big boost to the economy in October, bound to attract plenty of visitors from around Europe like the games in Wembley have. | |

| Pure speculation. It would be superb if it happened but I think they are just making assumptions because Dan Rooney who owns the steelers is also ambassador to Ireland.
There is a strong possibility of a player strike for the NFL next season which is going to hamper the NFL's plans to play their usual one game abroad.
College football Navy and Notre Dame are coming to Lansdowne in September 2012. That will sell out. 30,000 yanks came to the last game in Croke Park alone.
I'd be surprised if they took the game out of Wembley and even if they did I think they would go to mainland Europe first like Berlin or Frankfurt.

The Steelers are owned by the Rooneys but the Packers are the only sports franchise in the Usa that are not owned by a family or a corporation but Is owned by the people of Green Bay.This romour about the Nfl playing a game in croke park has been floating around for years now.It will happen in the not too distant future but as Sam said there could be a lock out next season. There will be a 2nd regular season game played outside the USA soon and Germany and Holland will be in the running for it as well as us.There is a big NFL following in both countries and all you have to do is go to the game in wembley to see the huge numbers of jerries and dutch at it. On a game in croke park where would the Nfl hold there tailgating party as they love all the big build up and rasamatazzzzzzzzz that goes with it.There is nowhere to do it around croker. It would be Huge for the local economy if it happens.

Wrong. Its an amazing sport. Every play has a scoring chance from any part of the field. Any of the 32 teams can win it year on year thanks to the salary cap and draft system. The athleticism required is at the top end for any sport. The hits are incredible. 3 years average career span for a linebacker. Players have to learn 100's of plays per game. Most players are college educated. There must be something in it if they can bring it to another continent and fill a 90,000 seater stadium. Must be loads of people out there who love boring sports.
