| And it's well recognised country-wide that clubs should have unfettered access to their county players in the week of championship games. | |

| You simply cannot please everyone, that is a fact of life.
With the county seniors gone, the club championship has to take priority in Kildare.
Junior players this year have already missed league games with their clubs (despite there being no allowances made for it) so its very unfair on the management to be making these kind of requests with the access they have had to the players when in the past this competition wasn't even taken overly seriously.
But we do need to look at both sides and to be fair they are in an All Ireland final.
There is no way all the clubs involved could have played championship matches Thursday and Friday night. There are so many clubs represented that it simply is not feasible. |

| The clubs have conceded enough this year already. | |

To be fair rgb I dont think the clubs are looking at it that way this time. Lads work during the week, having to travel home from work and play an important championship match is not ideal. It's also the second round and a must win for some clubs. Also playing 4 or 5 fixtures on a friday night is simply not feasible coupled with the fact that gate receipts will be down. I suspect this will not end pretty. |

| So why is it acceptable for a few games to go ahead and not others? | |

| All this does is create a wedge between the junior county players and the club players & clubs.
Best case in point being Ciaran Kelly. Played for the Juniors on Saturday missing the League Final. Now cannot train the entire week in an attempt to gain his place back for club championship.
If he gets his place back for championship whilst missing training and the League Final can whoever is dropped be aggrieved? Probably yes.
Do the clubs and managers like to be in a position where they are without their top players at training but having to make a decision on them to start championship? Probably No.
Will the club players who have to make way for the Junior lads be hard done by? Most definately Yes.

| Good points there Fionn, all it does is create a wedge between the two sides and the players are gonna be the ones who suffer.
imo, it is an unnecessary demand by the junior management and all it will serve to do is create arguments.

| very surprising the clubs are putting up with this. This panel and manager will want all of kildare to follow them in a final in few weeks even though the manager is showing no respect to the clubs or the club championship. he'll get no luck from his carry on. | |

| it's just more of the same - it happened with the minors already this year, it happens and it happens and it happens - it was happening with the juniors last year and the year before - the clubs don't even come into the radar where the county board is concerned. | |

| Not talking specifically about the Juniors, but in general, has the time not come for our inter-county players to play a bit more with their clubs? For example, it's full steam ahead in Donegal and Kerry, and Fennelly got injured hurling with his club in Kilkenny at the weekend. None of those counties are doing badly. It would maybe release some of the pressure on players to play the odd game during the summer with their clubs. And if the argument is to avoid injuries, well jaysus, we get plenty of them anyway. | |

| I was at a few games at the weekend and I was surprised by the number of supporters at games who were not from the competing clubs. In truth , KIldare fans have been starved of football in the past few months and the issue will have to be addressed going forward. These are the people who are keeping the clubs going and paying the €8 at the gates. We cannot continue to alienate the clubs from the county team during the summer months when supporters want to see plenty of matches at club and county level. | |

| I reckon there is about 40 players on that panel, so thats a serious amount of players not with their clubs.
We need to look a things that can push the county team on that bit further and I think having players playing regular club football is one of the things that has to be looked at. We picked up some amount of injuries in training, playing games is a risk id be willing to live with.

Spot on there over the bar. Tony Kelly has always tried to create a conflict with the juniors and the clubs. I think its his way of showing the lads how serious it is. In the past the juniors was a very poor set up and actually still would be only for McGeeney.
