No neeed for the hysterics as it is obvious that you have some involvement or huge interest here. When do they need trials when there is an U/21 championship taking place in the next couple of months and the selectors can go to as many matches as they like. I am sure that they know most of the panel for next year anyway.

| Most of the panel is picked already anyway, a lot of the panel werent asked to the trial. I think the trials being held at the moment are just to please the clubs by inviting them to send a couple of players forward - all well and good if a couple of players are found but on the whole, most of the squad have been picked.
Apparently geezer told all trialists to forget about playing any college football if they want to have aspirations of playing county. While most county managers would openly express their dislike of college comps i doubt many would tell lads they cannot play. After all, most of these guys at 20/21 will benefit from playing regular games rather than just train with one group 5/6 times a week

and a lot in the 20/21 bracket, especially the better ones, have college scholarships.
Few can afford to throw that away.

| I was in at the trials on friday night last and have to say that I was told all of last years panel who was underage for next years team had to come in for trial games, new mentors wanted to look at all players and make a judgement for themselves on who is good enough.......loads of pints you are correct in what you said about geezer telling players about not playing college football........doubt if any players will listen to that........ | |

| I agree with most, the Panel will be more or less picked as most of last Years Panel are underage again. Paul Cribben will I assume be added. Might be a few Minors from this Year / last Year added for experience I would think. I agree with TOM, U21 Matches start this weekend, let the Selectors get out there and have a look at lads doing it with their Clubs. | |

| Few interesting matches ahead, does anyone know when they are taking place?
I presume Celbridge and Towers 21 matches will be a bit later than the rest of them. Celbridge should win easy enough and Towers minors will probably have enough for Moores 21s anyway.

Good win for Confey. A good few of their 21s play in key roles in the senior side.

| Na Fanna 3-20 Carbury 1-03 Carbury had a very young team out I was told, mostly minor players on the team, Na Fianna were far to strong looking at the score line, probably should be in the A championship.......anybody at the game or have any other results...... | |

| There are Shield competitions Tom.
In the 'A' the five Round 1 losers will be in it (only three Round 1 matches played to date; Celbridge and Towers games held up because of the Minor replay). Maynooth will also be in it and so will Clane if they lose to Raheens next Saturday. Draw can't take place until after the Raheens v Clane game is played because Raheens having already won a game aren't eligible for the Shield. In the 'B' all the Round 1 games have been played so there are 7 teams in the Shield already (i.e. the losers). There may be an 8th if the Larries lose to Ballykelly in Round 2 next Saturday. Draw can't take place until after the St. Laurences v Ballykelly game is played because Ballykelly having already won a game aren't eligible for the Shield. Don't know where the 'C' Championship is at but I assume there will be a Shield there too.

Think you were misinformed as I understand Matty Byrne, Dan Nea and Donnacha McDonnell all played from the start.

| There's only 5 teams in the C championship so I doubt there's a shield. | |
