Met Galvin at the Alex Ferguson interview in the Convention Centre last year, he's a really nice guy. Top player too - think Kerry definitely had to harden up after 2002 and 2003.
Been reading Eugene McGee's book and I quite like it. He and Colm O'Rourke are the football analysts I most like reading. One revelation in it – he was asked if he was interested in the Kildare job around the same time as Mick O'Dwyer. He was in bed sick with flu and couldn't make it to the scheduled meeting. He then heard later in the week that Micko had got the job. He writes, "Kildare people will probably say it was their lucky day!"
I would thoroughly recommend Damian Lawlor's book on last year's hurling championship and the background to it.
My favourite ever GAA book is Out Of Our Skins by Liam Hayes, it was reprinted last year. It was a fascinating insight into the great Meath team he was part of, and the ruthlessness they adopted to ensure they continually beat Dublin. Genuinely, the current Kildare team could learn from it!
His biography of Kevin Heffernan from last year was very good too. V funny story in it about Bernard Brogan Snr making a return to the Dublin team and a certain Paddy O'Donoghue giving him a "welcome back" present in his first game against Kildare!
