I was 11 that summer and I remember the hype was unreal. We were well beaten - just not tough enough, particularly up front - but it was a young team and you can see the odd promising sign in them. Sos Dowling and Glenn Ryan were excellent and Nuckser grew into it.

Got me thinking that it really was an awful chain of events that left us without O'Dwyer for 95 and 96, wasting two precious years. There are some ferocious gobshites in this county.

Also, God be with the days that The Sunday Game actually showed football on a Sunday night. Highlights almost as long as the game itself!

well if the match isn't shown live now, the sunday game will only show about 30 seconds of highlights which is a disgrace. instead they show mainly extended highlights of the games already shown live that day.

Agreed Frankel. Especially before All Ireland Q final stage. Live games don't need to be shown at all on the evening show as people can watch them on the player. Instead show 10 or 15 minutes of the other games and less time listening to eejits like Spillane or Brolly or Whelan massaging their own egos. As the King said a little less conversation a little more action please.

It should be pretty straightforward Frankel, there were only about 4 live games a year in 1992. So I don't get why anyone would want a return to those days unless they like radios.

There's a chap called Killian who operates under Twitter handle @killianM2 who is putting an amazing archives of old sport and old TV generally on youtube. He's put a few Kildare matches on lately and I'm told he's got some more to come. He just have a house crammed full of old VHS tapes which he's gradually converting and putting online. Suggest you follow him if you're into your sport, music or TV nostalgia.

I can only presume that you are not taking a dig at the 95/96 management teams, people who worked tirelessly for Kildare Gaa both before and after 95/96.

No I'm having a dig at the people who thought they knew better than the best manager in the game anf ran him out of the place before going cap in hand to him after two terrible first roubd defeats at which point he delivered the only two trophies of note we've won in the last 59 years.

I'd love to see some of the footage from the 1991 League campaign again. We beat Kerry by a point in the quarter final and Donegal by a point in the semi final both in Croke Park.

That's where I found this Crofter, it's a class channel, isn't it? Half-hour highlights of our game with Laois in 1998 and the full drawn match with Offaly in 2000 are up there as well. Hope he has more to add.
