- A good first game in all fairness. 24 points in those conditions is good scoring. Adam Tyrrell was very good. Hopefully he'll stay commited. I think the last new commer to shoot the lights out like that was John O Donohuge from Kilcock he kicked 10 points against Athelney IT but never reached those highest again.
Which year was that Jim ? Struggling to recall that one..

I think Peter Kelly is more suited to the corner. A couple of times yesterday he committed himself to a long ball, missed it and could have given away a goal. If he did play full back yesterday - he conceded 1-03. Feeley surely has too much football in him for full back. With Eoin Doyle surely nailed down at 6, would Johnny Byrne be an option at 3? Peter Kelly is not a full back, he was absolutely roasted at 3 against Cork in Croker 3/4 years ago, he's a specialist cornerback and should be left there.

Sorry am doing Feely a disservice above - DCU only conceded six points (all frees) and the two goals appear to have been scored by McGraynor, down as a midfielder.

| A simple answer, thats all it took... get a newbridge manager he will in turn get more newbridge players and look kildare are on the up again. I have been saying this for years and its in black and white a newbridge team have won the senior championship 5 of the last 6 years bar that fluke of a year athy won it. | |

Good man Mick - "Kildare are on the up again" after beating a college team in the O'Byrne Cup in the first week of January

We're "on the up" on the basis of a facile win over a poor college team? I actually agree Newbridge seems to have been under-represented but please let's keep our heads here.. I do hope your comment was somewhat in jest.

| Anyone who jeered Tomas is an idiot, he was badly used/misused by Ryan, and still has a role to play, I hope he does return, used properly he is still an option, on another issue what time is throw in on Wednesday at Hawkfield? | |

| Can't believe people jeered Tomas. Whether you think he is or it's up to it is besides the point. I have my own opinion on that but the one think I do have for Tomas is the utmost respect. | |

| Shocking people jeered Tomas, he has giving a lot of service too Kildare and has put his body on the line on a lot of occasions he'd be very useful to have, would love to have him back. | |

| Agree about Tomas. Don't think he's the answer but jeering him was out of order if it occurred (I didn't hear it). | |

| I think it was more of a cheer that went up when Peter Kelly won the ball when they were both fighting for it. Most Kildare supporters have a big admiration for Tomas anyway because of his wholehearted approach. I didn't think it was much of an issue, to be honest. | |

| Incident happened near the end, Kildare defenders crowded him out and a good few down the Kilcullen end of the stand were being unpleasantly sarcastic. Didn't like what I heard, but maybe I've read the situation wrong. | |

| On the O'Donoghue point fest under Padraig Nolan I think its was against Dundalk IT and was part of the '05 competition. | |

| I place absolutely no merit on any individual performance or win in the O'Byrne cup. I place even less on it when it comes to beating a college team.
The league this year is an ideal platform to test out some new players. Let's be honest , I fully expect us to be promoted from Division 3 this year. We should also being going through the campaign unbeaten if we are calling a spade a spade.
Clare, sligo, limerick , tipp, Offaly, Longford and Westmeath.
There is no way we should be losing games to any of these teams regardless of venue. |

| We were lucky to beat both Clare and Limerick in recent years. Tipperary have progressed farther than us at underage in the last few years and made us look very ordinary at minor last year. Westmeath played a superior brand of football to us last year and beat us in Newbridge. We are capable of winning all our games and certainly should be aiming for that but it wont be easy. | |
