I think people can take for granted the sort of workload involved in managing a team. And in a championship-winning season, it's a long year. I don't know the circumstances but I could certainly understand a guy being utterly worn out, to maybe want to see his kids or go on a holiday with the wife, if she's still talking to him after checking out for the last 12 months! And it being his own club, not getting the sort of shilling he'd have got for doing it somewhere else!!

And what better way to go out, getting them over that hurdle at last.

Next year, whole new challenge, losing more games and it's amazing how quickly you'd become a useless prick. Great timing, now that I think of it.

Feck's sake Athy turning into a Dublin club! They would be two heavyweight additions (literally in Kingston's case). If Athy got the right manager, there is not a doubt in mind that they could do what Moorefield have done this year – win the county title and get to a Leinster final. They definitely have the squad.

But they need a Jim McGuinness-type to get in there and knock heads together. When it comes to the crunch, they are always found wanting tactically and they're as flaky as anything. Time to rip it up and start again, as the man says.

They had a good manager in Paschal Kellaghan but the big egos didn’t like being brought back down to earth.

Kellaghan played awful football . He has been ran out of his own club now.......Athy want to play football not defensive rubbish. As for Quinn, Athy don't want him or need him . Cathal is a welcome addition to Athy .
