| As the title suggests are we doing enough to support Kildare financially in Kildare. We like to think we a great support because we travel in half decent numbers to away games but are we really doing enough in terms of supporting fundraisers, buying into Club Kildare annually ect ect.
Conleths was no where near full Sunday by the way.
If the GAA are going to continue to fund Dublins dominance is there anything we should or could do to help our own cause? It's well known fact that spend on county teams is linked relative success.
Discuss? Are you a club Kildare member if not why not?

| Short answer is no but it's not that simple. There's huge room for improvement both on and off the pitch but it needs to be harnessed. | |

| No were not doing enough. We dont get the support we used to even 5 years ago. I think alot of it has to do with the dominance in leinster of dublin and the trouncings they have given us. Similar story in meath | |

| Also think human nature. Do all you can and only thing that happens if speed gap grows with Dublin lessens but it still grows. So why bother? I know that might sound like a loser mentality but it's reality created by Croke Park. | |

| every couny has suffered in the last few years simple economics means it is hard for families to go to all matches and support the club as well i think the gaa should be more proactive in looking after card carrying club members and give serious discounts to families the days of just waiting for the crowds to turn up are over | |

| A lot of supporters are backing their clubs first, I would think a number of people on here support Kildare and would not be really associated with clubs, these club supporters are constantly being hit along with the co board putting levies on clubs and high insurance and costs associated with entering teams into competitions. The GAA has lost the family etos and gone far too corporate and are doing little for clubs in relations to insurances etc. and sometimes I think a lot of the people employed in Croke Park are too focused on making money for Croke Park and would prefer events like concerts instead of matches. Would like to see the rise in salaries and expenses in the GAA Management on a graph over the last 20 years. The mere mortals are being forgotten about by the people sitting up in 1st class but they still want the contributions, communism at its best!!!!!!!

| An interesting point you make re the club first ...
Someone in the know here should do a straw poll of club first or county first ? Had this chat with a lot of colleagues a few years back whether they would prefer a club all Ireland win or a Kildare all Ireland win.
Maybe some of our Moorefield friends (Sam ?) can put forward his case ?

| Are we doing enough, as in the people on this forum who are no doubt stuck in with their clubs and also support the county I would say yes. At club level the same core group either run or support the local fundraisers. Clubs are struggling for funds and then county board adds levies or events that you must buy tickets for. In clubs like JTB, Celbridge and Athy then you have players trying to sell tickets for those same events and the same people are being asked to fork out. The difference at club level is that many in with clubs have very youbng kids and will support local things, but are less inclined to get behind a county that they might not be native to.
There is a major lull in Kildare and unfortunately it will only change when we win something or at least become regulars in the Super 8. Same as most sports there is a huge bandwagon that needs to be tapped into more.

| According the the official fixure list there are 10 u/20 games due to be played at 11.30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Thats approx 400 players, 60 mentors, referees, umpires, linemen and supporters.
These games won't finish until near 1.00 p.m. so how many of them are going the make it, or feel like making it, to St.Conleth's Park for a 2.00 p.m. throw in ??

| That's so silly. Would it not be great to have U10 blitzes in Hawkfield on some match days and those teams all get free entry to the senior game. That would be an idea. | |

Sunday’s morning games has been going years . When a team is doing well people will follow them everywhere. Look at Kildare support in Tullamore last year

| I really do think supporters are more inclined to look after the club first. The way Dublin are at the moment is turning supporters away from the county scene and they are putting most of there time & effort trying to win with there clubs where it might be a bit easier and would probably get more satisfaction. | |
