| A thread dedicated to the thousands that turned up yesterday and showed the likes of Brolly and co that we are a proud County and we never will walk with our heads held low no matter how much you want us to. This was an away game after a terrible loss. Would any other County get near us. Kildare supporters be proud, you are a credit to your County. | |

| Highball, I would say easily 10,000 were wearing white. This really is a great county to follow. Yes some of the years have not being kind to us but when you pull into a town and look around and see the place full of white you know you are part of the best supporting fans in the country. Brolly and Spillane can knock our lads all they want, no skill, dont know how to score etc etc but I can tell you one thing, they are our lads and we will support them any day, any where. Come on Kildare. | |

| Yeah, have to say I was very impressed with our support yesterday. So much so I missed the first 20 minutes thanks to huge tailbacks in Virginia. Nothing but KE regs and white jerseys. Something else.
The players must get an incredible buzz from seeing that level of support.

| I'm sure the lads appreciate our support too, have to say though, days like this make my summer, even if the 90 minute horrendous drive home between Cavan town to Virginia nearly led to a divorce and 2 orpaned kilds | |

| Great support. Traffic management getting out of the town seemed to be a bit of a disaster but I doubt many minded too much after the result. | |

| Great support , Great weather , Great atmosphere , Great win. Have not enjoyed a championship day as much in a long time. And as for the stadium , a joy to behold. The Kildare County Board must shake when they see these stadia and all we have is Newbridge , sacred as it is but absolute light years behind nearly everything else in the country. It truly is shameful.
I also had the pleasure of meeting the dad of a certain SJ , a real character.
All in all , well done to the team and onwards and upwards. | |

| After some advice , we went home via Granard and Edgeworthstown etc. There were no problems that way. | |

| Fantastic Kildare following yesterday. The kind of support we needed anyway. After the game, I was walking along the footpath, with the mountain of traffic beside me going nowhere. A fellah in a car asked a Garda,(obviously unaware of the match), what was causing all the tailbacks. The Garda replied -"Too Many Kildare people" | |

| Lads appreciate the support yesterday. Roli Sweeney twitter. "Fair play to the Kildare supporters today. Travelled in huge numbers & made themselves heard as usual. Made the VERY slow trip home easier!" |

| Absolutely brilliant support yesterday. Turned up both in numbers and sound volume. The bit of booing was drowned out each time before it really got started. Same from here on in and hopefully even more ! The team deserves it. | |

| McGeeney defends decision to bring on Johnston 16 July 2012
Seanie Johnston kicks his first score for KildareKieran McGeeney defended his decision to introduce Seanie Johnston in Kildare's facile All-Ireland football qualifier win over Cavan.
Johnston entered the fray with 10 minutes to go against his former Cavan team-mates, and marked his long-awaited Kildare debut with a point from a free in injury-time.
"He was playing well this week at training. He is like everybody else, I can't treat him any different to somebody else. If he is playing well, he is entitled to a start," the Kildare manager said.
Johnston needed a Garda escort in and out of Kingspan Breffni Park, but McGeeney played down the level of animosity inside the ground.
"What's that, cheering? Yeah, it was a great atmosphere. The Kildare supporters today were brilliant. They were fantastic from the word 'go'. Did you see hostility there? I didn't. All I could hear was cheers," he added
I copied this from hoganstand. Animosity, hostility, Garda escorts. I must have missed that. The Dub media are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. If anything it has made the Kildare support stronger and more united than I have ever seen it before, and hopefully the same can be said of the team and all involved.
I remember working in London in the eighties and attending a few Millwall matches for the craic. The media had it in for them , they were the bad boys of the soccer world and used to have this siege mentality
No one likes us, no one likes us, we dont care.

| Yes have to say we had great support in Cavan, Portlaoise and Roscommon, all for games where we were favourites to win, but where did our support go last Sunday. Was it because we were outsiders and given no hope playing Cork. That is surely when the lads need our support most. The Donegal support was immense on Sunday and they had the chant of "Donegal" "Donegal" going even before the ball was thrown in. Reminded me of the type of support we got back in the years 97 to 2000. Remeber the hill back in those days now that was support while last Sunday would we have had 200 on the hill ? Do these fair weather supporters only come out when they think we are going to win. To me you are either a supporter or not........... no in between. | |

| On the subject of Kildare supporters, I always wondered what is the name of one of the county's most loyal fans. I always see him at most kildare matches be it obyrne cup, league and of course championship. He wears a number 48 Kildare jersey and the comments he says are absolutely hilarious! Just wondering if any of yee knew who he is because he is a fuckin legend! | |

| Did anyone hear the Saturday panel on News talk today. They were talking about atmosphere at matches and what games stood out. Eamonn O Hara was on and he talked about our game with Sligo last year and the amount of Kildare supporters who travelled. He said our supporters were brilliant and the amount we bring to away games is unbelievable. He only spoke about us for a couple if mins and said a lot of complimentary things, but it highlighted how important supporters are and how the players notice. Well worth a listen to the podcast when it becomes available.

| I heard that too. There was a great vocal Kildare crowd down in Cork last weekend. Hopefully we will have similar support in Castlebar and Newry. It must give the players a lift when they see so many travelling such long distances to get behind them. | |
