| Really need this ban halved to 3 months which would make him availiable now. Wouldnt hold my breath with the Leinster Council on this. | |

Wouldnt hold my breath with the Leinster Council on this. I was told before christmas by somebody who should know (ie on the leinster council) that because Flynn wasn't reported for a red card offence, it was for something that happened after the game that any suspension would begin from the time it was imposed and not the time the offence occured. That was when the appeal was due to be heard at the start of December but the fact that he was then away and then the weather caused a delay surely means they would look sympathetically on that?

| This is the GAA, common sense and sympathy are not in abundance. Expect him to get 3 months starting from today. | |

| Johnny's red card last year was a case of mistaken identity. | |

| suspension reduced by a month from six to five, from the date of the match which would have him missing three games and back for the last four, starting with Leix | |

Not great but as faithfullily said could have been worse, he'll be coming back just as things start to heat up. Paudi and Hugh look set for midfield now.

| Could have been worse. Big challenge for the two lads at midfield now. | |

| So in effect he's missing 3 months from today?, only thing is, training is no subsitute for match practice, lying idle for both club and county within that period, don't forget Darryl was carrying an injury for most of the tail end of last season, unable to train and been used intermittently by Moorefield, coming on as a sub if required, could take him awhile to re-discover the pace of the game.
We might be missing our first choice midfield, but as it stands its only a mini crisis, plenty of players who can fill the gap, on paper at least.

| Huge loss though KC. Was inspirational for Kildare at times last season.
Still think the 5 month ban was very harsh. But again we may lube up and take it as usual. Not to mention the performance of the ref during the game.
Hopefully when he's back the hunger will be unreal, and there's blood in his nostrils for the visit of Laois to Newbridge. |

| Nice break for him. Whether he needed it or not is another thing. At the end of the days it's all about championship and he's back in loads of time for that.
Fingers crossed the mist doesn't descend anytime soon. It's probably very difficult for him so we should accept him as he is.

| Nice to have him coming in for competitive football towards the end of the league. That will keep him fresh. We need the depth in Midfield and it would be great to have him fresh for the championship. Give KMcG 3-4 league matches to experiment with Hugh Lynch and one or two others. Only thing D Flynn is a similar style midfielder to Lynch. We'd need one of them pushing up like Earley does so well. | |

| Not bad, 4 games, possibly 5 if we get to the league final to get sharp for te championship, plenty of time. I reckon himself and Paidi will be the first choice midfield this summer. | |

| Flynner was actually very attack-minded with the U21s when Willie did the donkey work for him. Flynner might score four points but his man might get a few as well... he had to change his style a bit coming in next to Dermot... you'll notice last year he got forward more due to Dermot having to tailor his game due to his decreased mobility... so I'd say there'd be no problem with the balance between Flynn and Lynch if that is the midfield pairing.
I read today that they might still appeal...

And I'm not saying that it's not harsh because I don't know what happened either but how can you have such a strong viewpoint?

| No argument or doubt, Flynn was outstanding last year and in my opinion he was as important to the team as J.D.

| Flynn's still by far the best to partner Earley in midfield. If he hadn't have gone off injured against Down I'd say we would have won and he would have been up for an all star too. The sooner the better he's back. | |

| Flynn was great last year and really stood up although it's a sign of how good so many were that he may not make the top three Kildare players of 2010 and that's meant with zero disrespect. Also, I don't think JD had as good a year as he's had before and think his All Star was more a reward for never getting one before than his actual season, in fact based on 2010 I'd have had James Kavanagh ahead of him as our best forward. Peter Kelly deserved his All Star too and speaking of underrated players, Morgan O'Flaherty I really though was immense and had an amazing engine in every game. | |
